On our honeymoon, we rented a Harley and went from Naas, to Galway, to Clifden, to Westport, and back to Naas. Here are some of the pictures.

You look awesome on that cycle Cail! Yep, the overcast sky, thick grass and foliage all reminds me of my England trip; of course, Ireland's superior...cept the places where you get blown up by extremists.
We weren't expecting the awesome weather, so we weren't sure if we'd even bother renting the bike. We had a hotel room for the week in Portmarnock, and only had the bike for Friday and Saturday. We rode around 900 kms. in those two days. Friday night we stayed in a little B&B in Clifden.
Had we known the weather was going to be perfect, we wouldn't have stayed in Dublin after the first night. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a couple if B&Bs, and we could have easily toured more of the country for the rest of the week.

Well Done Cail , nice choice for your honeymoon I must say and the sign you were in front off with Tullamore on it is quiet near where I,m from lol. I hope the irish treated you alright. By the way How did you find the roads Good or Bad .
A lie well told and told often enough,I'm damned if the truth will ever catch up with it!
I would have loved to have stayed out west longer, but we only had two days. My original plan was to go from Naas, to Galway, to Donegal, to Belfast, then back to Naas.....In two days. No way possible. I think I could spend two weeks between Cobh and Westport. For a tiny island, it's time consuming.
The roads were......Challenging. I got used to riding on the left pretty quickly, though it still made me clench up every time I saw oncoming traffic on my right side. America's roads were designed for cars, Ireland's roads weren't. Other than the highways, two lane roads are no wider than about 14 feet. Not a lot of guardrails around the coast either. And it was interesting dodging the sheep.
But I'm convinced that God created Ireland just for motorcyclists.

Be glad you experienced them after Ireland joined the EU! Many of the smaller roads, especially way out west or way up north, in the poorer counties, would have been treacherous on a bike! The roads, along with some bizarre (to me) farming practices were the first (and clearest)differences I saw post-EU.

Very nice. Congratulations. On a Harley no less - at least you had two people to push it.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
-George Steiner
