Did you ever go to Googlemap and look at the 3d pictures of various places in the world? I was fascinated as to how they had so many pictures of streets and roads all over the world. I started dragging the little man to spots all over the world and "driving' along the roads. It is really amazing.

So I did some research and found out that about 5 years ago Google began a project to photograph roads worldwide. An amazing task. They use what is called a Googlecar which had a 3d camera. So I said to myself "Self, this is a great job!"

Apparently the job is called a GeoImmersive Data Producer

Google hires these folks worldwide for 24,000/ year (base) plus travel expenses.

some really interesting side stories regarding this program.

One artist, who is wheelchair bound, uses this program to visit various parts of the world and paint pictures.

Some communities prevent the googlecar from filming for fear of burglaries.

Googlecar pics have been used as evidence in crimes , you never know what you will catch on the camera.

agreed.
I shared it on my feed on Facebook.
A lot of my "friends" via VW and SoW are very young and just starting out. This may interest some of them highly.

Thanks lorin!

I saw on the news that when this debuted in British Columbia, some things the googlecar snapped were a home burglary in progress, a house fire, and a nude sunbather.
