Let me just say that driving through beautiful downtown Gainesville, small as it is, during the height of...

The Fest 8

...while students who are already drunk from the

UF/UGA Football Classic

in Jacksonville are skulking out of their dorms and apartments to hit the clubs downtown

in costume for Hallowe'en...

...does not a serene drive to get a free taco at Taco Bell make.

...but the taco wasn't all that bad...

I think when the Kr-shnas crossed the street in front of me, in full regalia and chanting to the beaten tabla, just culminated the whole experience...

Wait, you saw Krishna on the way to Taco Bell? That is one *intense* fast food trip.

Well, I saw Kr-shna devotees singing and dancing past the lined up club hoppers and then jay walking across University Avenue in front of my car as the light turned green on my way back home from Taco Bell...

But it's not all that unusual. We have a really major Kr-shna devotee community here. Beorn's charter middle school was run by Kr-shna devotees. It was just seeing them at 11:30 pm on Hallowe'en night amidst the costumed Festers and drunk students returning home just capped off the entire experience for me.

I've always enjoyed seeing them at Mardi Gras, as well as the freaks with signs telling me I'm going to Hell.

My eyes were widened the last time I didn't get out of Provincetown before the sun went down.
