Dare I raise the spectre of the movie? Is it dead and buried now for good?

when i see all the Weak movies they release, prince caspian? the golden COmpass? the island of Nim? probably good books but I didnt like the movies....and a much longer list of movies I didnt like and that made me think "its only a matter of time before someone grows sack and takes on the TCTC. Even if i dont like it, i can make corrections and yell out in the theater... THATS NOT HOW IT WAS>>>THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED>. then procede to correct every wrong section of the movie, which is exactly what i would have to do if someone like Universal gets ahold of it... they did the same to Jurassic park but I still love the movie and I love the Books so if i can get a movie with changes that still represents a good tale of TCTC, I can live with that.

Untill someones golden compass leads them to a white gold ring i think its dead.

This would be a HARD movie to make. All other matters aside, the movie industry would never allow Covenant to rape Lena, especially a child Lena...and that would undercut the whole point of the Ur-Lords guilt and make his choices from that point onward even harder to explain.

That is kinda correct. The only reason there has been a bit of a spurt in the amount of fantasy books to film over the last 10 years is because the ones that have been done, such as LOTR, Eragon, the Golden Compass, and the Narnia film, are more family films therefore are most likely going to be a hit. Fantasy films have been very popular this decade. The problem with putting TCTC to film will be that the content can be very 15/18 rated. It would be very difficult to remove or replace some of the adult content without ruining SRD's work and vision.

But yeah. Would love it. But will be unlikely but maybe.

krillarbran, the biggest reason that the TC movie didn't fly was, as SRD puts it, "the ring". I guess it seemed too much like a Tolkien knock-off. (Donaldson's perpetual undeserved curse!)

For a while, I hoped the all around flopness of other subsequent fantasy movies might change their minds, and start thinking that maybe a little Ring might be a benefit and not a detriment.

That was before the Hobbit became possibe. Tolkien will own movie rings for a while more, I guess.

I was thinking of that myself. It might work in Anime or in a film from France, but it would be problematic nonetheless.
