THE HISTORY OF THE ACROPOLIS

TURN V

Gossip of the People

- The poor are uplifted by the Facetor's commitment to social justice.
- The city watch's musical ability is renowned.
- The garden district suffered a severe fire late one night towards the end of the month.
- Farmers are reporting record livestock births, and grain stores are higher than normal for this time of year.
- Animal merchants in the city report high theft.
- Many priests of Nyx are seen sporting new eye patches.
- More women are arriving in the Acropolis thanks to Virelai.
- The Queen is pregnant.
- The priests of Antaka are often seen exhausted but strangely excited.
- The amount of pollen in the air is up, but people don't seem to mind.

Premonitions of the Gods

Two new Heroes are coming to the Acropolis.

TURN VI

- Writing is invented in the Acropolis by the priesthood of Virelai.
- The Acropolis descends into panic as word arrives of an invading barbarian horde from the north.
- A group of scouts and a priest of Virelai were last seen heading to treat with the barbarians.
- Word spreads of a new temple that literally sprung from the earth near the southern range.
- The priesthood of Antaka celebrates a holy day, and all citizens of the Acropolis acknowledge Antaka as Lord of the Afterlife.
- Theft in the Acropolis is practically nonexistent.
- There is a growing labor movement.
- The price of private guards is lower, while demand is way up.

TURN VII

- Supplies are gathered and a militia is formed, preparing along the northern wall for the invasion.
- A riot breaks out along the northern wall. The palace guard puts it down.
- The King sends the Acropolis' army against the invaders, but it turns into a stalemate as the army holds the high ground while surrounded and outnumbered.
- Surya is hailed as the city's protector for his timely attack against the invaders.
- Many are heard claiming that Surya could not have succeeded without Kai's help.
- Workers continue to organize, but their efforts are set back by the riots and an increase in workplace accidents.
- Many workers are heard offering invocations to Kai before doing anything risky.
- The King sends his groundskeepers to restore the Garden District.
- Musicians take to the towers, playing songs of fellowship every seventh day.
- The high priests of several gods are seen coming and going from the King's palace on a regular basis. They are never together, and most travel with a small detachment of the royal guard.

TURN VIII

- The barbarian invaders are routed, defeated in the momentous battle of a single night by a triple-pronged attack. The esteem of the Acropolis' citizens for its gods has never been higher.
- Word spreads of a man, by all accounts a common workman, who was struck down by Antaka (though some claim it was Kai), receiving a burning brand upon his forehead for misdeeds.
- Many people acknowledge Orden as one of the city's greatest heroes following his devastating attack on the enemy's rear flank.
- The civilians of the Acropolis speak of their awe for Nyx's dark night and how Chime gave them confidence.
- The soldiers speak of Surya's amazing gift of sight and how Diana succored them.
- Virelai's priest Marziale is welcomed as a returning hero
- Celebrations are held throughout the Acropolis, some formal and planned like the King's great banquet, many others informal and impromptu.
- Some surviving barbarians flee into the countryside. Most, however, about 400 in all, allow themselves to be taken prisoner.

TURN IX

- One company of the Acropolis' army makes Surya their patron. Another company is formed that proclaims Nyx as theirs.
- A number of the barbarian prisoners escape. Most are recaptured, thanks in part to Orden and his men.
- As the prisoners escape, panicked beasts run wild through the Acropolis.
- Chime gains dominion of Mathematics.
- The hilltop of the recent victory is sanctified in Nyx's name.
- The Tabernacle, a temple of Virelai that can move throughout the Acropolis, is set up in the field below the garden district.

TURN X

- A new form of music that stresses discordance, speaks of feelings of rage and helplessness, and often culminates in the smashing of instruments becomes popular in Irshirel.
- Priestesses of Diana are seen tending to the pregnant refugees in Virelai's care.
- The priests of Antaka are seen throughout the city offering the gift of death to those who suffer.
- Nyx and Chime both finish construction on new temples, while Marziale is officially named Virelai's second high priest.
- The barbarian prisoners are slaughtered. While many citizens of Irshirel cheer on the massacre, the actual killing was said to be done by a small group of men in uniforms that appear blacker than night itself.
- Work begins in earnest on the Unification Temple, but it does not progress far, as the accidents that have been befalling laborers occurs with greater frequency on this site.
