Nothing puts me in a good mood like They Might Be Giants, or the music of Monty Python. So, do you like Chinese? Or Traffic Lights? Or would you rather be whistling in the dark? ;)

There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raisin' of the wrist
Socrates himself was permanently pissed

I dont have my Monty Python belongings whit me right now, but here is an attempt for the Bruce´s Philosophers song...
Imanuel Kant, was a real pissant, who was very rarely stable,
Heidegger, Heidegger, was a boozy begger, who could think you under the table,
David Hume could out-consume, Schoppenhauer and Hegel (alt. Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel),
and Wittgenstein was a beery swine, who was just as schloshed as Schegel.
- There is nothing Nietzche could not teach ya ´bout the raising of the wrist, Socrates himself was permanently pissed...

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, on half a pint of shandy was particularly ill,
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day,
Aristotle, Aristotle, was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram and
Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, I drink therefore I am. Yes
Socrates himself is particularly missed

- But not when they are red (the traffic lights, not the Chinese... )

I so wonder where my Monty Python Sings-CD has gone. I could not find it when I looked the other day.

Talking about China: does anyone know/like the Yellow river (Yangzte Kiang?) song by MP?

And WHAT is the "They Might Be Giants"?? Is it funny? If so, where can I find some examples?

A lovely little thinker, but a buggar when he´s pissed.

Just a couple little differences.

Ylva - They Might Be Giants is a mordantly funny, very off-kilter band. I'm no good at classifying music, so I have no idea what their category would be - alternative maybe? But their songs are all upbeat, and most of them are funny. I'm sure you can find them on Kazaa or the like, but they're definitely worth supporting by buying their albums. :D

A woman came up to me and said
"I'd like to poison your mind
With wrong ideas that appeal to you
Though I am not unkind"
She looked at me, I looked at something
Written across her scalp
And these are the words that it faintly said
As I tried to call for help:

There's only one thing that I know how to do well
And I've often been told that you only can do
What you know how to do well
And that's be you,
Be what you're like,
Be like yourself,
And so I'm having a wonderful time
But I'd rather be whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
There's only one thing that I like
And that is whistling in the dark

A man came up to me and said
"I'd like to change your mind
By hitting it with a rock," he said,
"Though I am not unkind."
We laughed at his little joke
And then I happily walked away
And hit my head on the wall of the jail
Where the two of us live today.

There's only one thing that I know how to do well
And I've often been told that you only can do
What you know how to do well
And that's be you,
Be what you're like,
Be like yourself,
And so I'm having a wonderful time
But I'd rather be whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
Whistling in the dark
There's only one thing that I like
And that is whistling in the dark
