Saw the latest and last installment in the Matrix Trilogy last night - I was very disappointed. This movie did not live up to my expectations at all.

Has anyone else seen it yet?

Haven't seen it but have heard reviews from average Joes and most were disappointed.

I guess for me it seemed that the Brothers just lost their vision with this movie. The messianic overtones got a little too heavy at the end - but I admit, most good sci-fi has a Messiah figure (i.e., Dune, Star Wars, hell - even TCTC.) Also, there was not enough of Neo kicking a--. But the scene with Agent Smith was spectacular. I had theories of how the movie was going to turn out, and NONE of them were true. Shows what I know.

Mnyeah, Revolutions was good - the battle scene at the dock of Zion was COOL - but it just wasn't that hot. I'd give it 6/10 - probably if it had have been another film with less hype, I'd give it 7 or 8. Mildly disappointed, but it's definitely worth a look!

I agree that the movie is definitely worth a look, but I was very disappointed too.

There were a few good ideas in the movie, and the Reloaded one too, but they just dropped the ball and went back to the basic type of storyline that we have seen a thousand times before in other movies/TV series/books/comics and that was disappointing.

Eek! How frightening. I thought it was ridiculously amazing

I liked Reloaded, though it seemed patchy, and Revolutions was a vast improvement. In terms of spectacle, it simply can't be beaten, and being the final installment I found it had more tension than the previous two - end of the trilogy, anything goes. None of it unfolded how I expected, none of the theories I considered after Reloaded were anywhere near the mark. Superb.

I found it to be far more gritty and, in places, claustrophobic. Serious spoilers hereafter, including explicit reference to the ending, so be warned!

The attack on Zion put me in mind of Zulu - an overwhelmingly huge force beseiging a far smaller one, with the smaller army having no hope of survival, saved at the last desperate moment by an unexpected truce. I also found the ending reminiscent of TCTC - our hero travels to the home of the enemy, through great hardship and suffering, with no real idea what he's going to do when he gets there, but presumably to kick some bum, then in fact he does something completely unexpected. Faced with not one but two enemies he can't defeat (machines/Smith on the one hand, and Foul/Sunbane on the other) he ultimately gives his life to save the subjugated people of this cruelly tormented world.

I was also impressed with the flying combat (could teach Superman II a thing or two, heh) and Baines having the mannerisms and speech patterns of Smith.

Excellent film all round, if shockingly brutal in places - I'm talking about the blinding of Neo/death of that soldier bloke here.

I finally saw it last night, and I enjoyed it. Overall an entertaining series. I had my share of problems with Reloaded and Revolutions, but overall, they were worth watching and definately make me think.-jay

I just saw Revolutions yesterday and enjoyed it; not as much as the first one, but still . . . I had a few problems with the film but overall it was entertaining. Smith was brilliant, as usual, and had the best lines: "Even cookies need love." I'd give the film 6/10, too.

I saw it last week. I'm really not sure what i think of it yet which, on balance, probably means it's pretty good. I've always thought that the best bits of The Matrix happen in the matrix, and most of the film was set in Zion. Has anybody else noticed how bullets aren't rendered in Bullet Time anymore?

On the plus side I thought the hovercraft chase was excellent, and it wasn't as obviously cheesy as Reloaded. About Neo being the Messiah,

did anyone else notice that he was cruciform when he died? I mean, can you get any more Messianic than that?

I found Reloaded to be a bit of a mixed bag, with some amazing scenes interspersed with bits that actually made me cringe. I don't think I cringed once during Revolutions, but it didn't get my adrenaline going like Reloaded did (the freeway scene! Man!).

The best thing about Reloaded is the fight scene with Neo and Agent Smiths. That was the most beautifully choreographed scene I've ever seen.

Curiously, that scene put my girlfriend off the whole film. She detested it. Put her off seeing Revolutions as well... Nothing like overreacting, eh?

I especially enjoyed all of the little references to Hindu mythology...had to pull out my son's mythology encyclopedia and explain them to my hub after we saw it.
