I don't know why this game, and why at this moment in time, but there you have it. Video games can sell as big as Hollywood's biggest blockbusters...for better or worse.

To me, this says two things:

1) Games are well past being the niche geek pastime they were even during the 'console wars' of the early '90s.

2) Overhyping adequate but unspectacular products is just as effective a marketing tool in gaming as in cinema.
