THOOLAH AATL (Against All Things Linden)

With the preview of Chapt 1 in Against All Things Ending showing perhaps the best example ever of why I hate Linden I'm going to start a thread where people can feel free to bash her.

Anyone not familiar with the insightful genius that is THOOLAH should read these few threads:

The thread that started it all:

kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ht=thoolah

And two worth mentioning:

A little juxtaposition:

TC's triumphant return!
The whole Chronicles just switched.
It's in his perspective.
I feel like I just took a bath in hurtloam!!!!!

One of my favorite lines ever:
Spoiler
"He did love her. He had loved her during every instant that the Arch had ever contained."

And then Linden:
Spoiler
“All you had to do. All you had to do. Was tell me. How to find Jeremiah.”

Bleah!
Cry cry cry cry......

Even bringing TC back she messes it up:
Spoiler
“He’s right. He can’t hold on. Something inside him is collapsing. I brought him back,
but I didn’t do it right. He isn’t whole."
“And he has leprosy.”

Linden sucks.

I hope the dedication in AATE is just one word: THOOLAH!!!

Thanks! But I figure I'll give you THOOLAH types a little bit of time to enjoy your heresy before I continue this holy war....I mean, after all, the chapter was in TC's point of view, and that's cause enough for a temporary peace :)

This is no lie - the first time Linden slapped TC, I said aloud "that fucking bitch" and some of my co-workers looked at me and asked "who's a fucking bitch?"

I am wicked pissed at Linden right now, more so than I have ever been before. I'm also wicked pissed at SRD, for this "broken mind" bullshit on the trailer. The last thing I want to see is a re-hash of The One Tree, with a catatonic Covenant carried around behind Linden for half of a freakin' book.

Just curious...[though I DID spend a few minute trying to turn this into some kinda joke with a good punchline]
what's the difference between people who hate Linden, and people who won't read past the rape of Lena? Other than they kept reading, of course...

I understand where you're coming from, dlb. It's a valid concern. I'd prefer not to have to read about a semi-comatose Covenant either - and hopefully that won't be the case. But like you, I'm committed to the Last Chronicles, to whatever end - bitter or otherwise - it may lead.

I just hope he won't be an incoherent mumbler like Anele. That would annoy me.

Sure I hate Linden. Who doesn't?
Sure she's no different than what we've come to expect from her in this first chapter of AATE. Who would have expected anything else?
Donaldson has created a character that for me is simply painful. However I'm always entertained and will continue to be so through the rest of the series. Will my opinion of Linden ever change? Of course not. She is what SRD wants her to be and that will never change. Can I deal with it? Sure no problem.

I too felt a rush of satisfaction while reading this first chapter...from TC's point of view. It was so awesome and effective. Am I a little worried about the aforementioned scenerio where TC is ushered along by Linden and the Haruchai, half dazed and never fully present? Certainly.
Do I ask myself WAY too many questions. Absolutely.

I wonder if Covenant will ever really be "fully" present, unless every so often he gets someone to punch him, to force his focus on his immediate environment.
In that case, he could be a very bruised guy by the end of the book (as if he wasn't before).

But would we really want him fully present? Because it's when his mind "slips" and wanders that we get those incredible visions of past peoples and places.
Unless by Chapter Two his cosmic memories have completely deserted him.

THOOLAH! THOOLAH! THOOLAH!

Those were definitely my thoughts as I was reading the first chapter.

Does AATE have the potential to become the THOOLAH book? It seems to have a lot of potential based on the first chapter.

Covenant's POV... Linden weak and whiny...

It's finally good to have the REAL Chronicles of Thomas Covenant back...

THOOLAH!

I see the begining that SRD is definetly hit the stride.

What's a little leprosy that can't be cured by a little hurtloam?
Or even the Staff. Remember that Linden is still a healer.

TC will be saved, make no doubt about it.

Thank Linden because she has proven she greater than any Insequent.
By her resurrrecton of TC she has made the Worm, a nice little crunchy snack.
"Elohim Pops!"

TC will provide the temporance for Linden power. So yes, he will be around.

He well may be able to call up the Wild Magic and have some real control with it. I do believe that Linden will release the ring back to him.

And best of all.
The book is coming out.
and if this is the first chapter then you havn't read nuthin yet! :D

[So if your THOOLAH, then you surely side with Kevin, (whom I believe that Longwrath is influence by) who is still running the guilt complex 8000 years later..
( Hey Lord Kevin! Stop being a whinny spirit! Get over it, your dead.)
