We Are The World 25

I wasn't born yet when the original USA For Africa version of this song was written. It marked the beginning of such things as Live Aid and Farm Aid and Heal the World.

My mother was an active contributor to the We Are the World Foundation, along with so many others. And I am proud to say that I have become more involved in these groups.

This new version is all about Haiti. And it is absolutely breath taking. All proceeds from iTunes downloads go to earthquake relief.

Take a few moments and listen/watch...and then download it.

We Are the World, We are the children
We are the ones to make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a brighter day
Just you and me....

Actually, Band Aid was first, of which USA for Africa was an offshoot of.

Do they know it's Chr-stmas? (extended version) is a much better song than even the original version of We are the World, too.
(in my opinion, anyway)

That said, downloading the new We are the World and contributing to rebuilding Haiti is a worthy effort.

Oh yes, I stand corrected.

If you saw the video last night at the Olympic opening ceremonies you only saw an abbreviated version. The whole thing is on the website, where you can watch it before you decide to download it.

It really is awesome.

Now we all feel old....I literally remember the first time I ever heard "We are the World." Live Aid was a fantastic concert day. Thanks for the link, I'll definitely check it out.

And don't forget "Hear'n'Aid" - the metal project for Africa Dio set up in the 80s.
