I was wondering if anyone else had seen this. My wife absolutely loves it. She bought the DVD on the description alone. I liked it too, but did not have an unspoiled viewing, as she and my son discussed the movie around me before I saw it.

In a nutshell, Elysium is an ark ship, carrying 60,000 people and the stuff to colonize the first habitable planet found by Earth. But soon after leaving, the crew learns that Earth and all its civilization is gone. Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma) and Dennis Quaid wake up from prolonged cryosleep not remembering who they are or what's going on (apparently a side effect of prolonged cryosleep), especially since the 4th flight crew (they are the 5th) did not wake them.

The title, Pandorum, is their word for space dementia. Beyond the SF, it's also a haunted house flick with action and psychological drama tossed in.

There are a couple of very good twists toward the end, one which could be guessed (I did, but I was spoiled). The problem I had with it was some of the angles and the darkness didn't let me see what was really happening all the time. Of course, the ship is suppose to be dark, so maybe I'm just nitpicking. A second viewing cured the problems, and it is, IMO, imminently rewatchable.

There's also good director's commentary for those who like that stuff.

My wife and I just watched the film this evening and were very surprised that it was much better than what we expected given the critical reaction and weak box office. I loved the concept and thought the execution was very good. I'm not quite sure why it was panned so. I rented the film but will purchase the dvd in the future.

ItisWritten's description has me intrigued! I don't remember hearing about this film at all.
The premise does makes me think: Titan A.E. + Event Horizon. (Not a fan of either film, sorry to say.)

Really, nothing at all like those 2. Well, the spaceship as haunted house, maybe. But there's less supernatural and more science. A lot of crazy.

One of the characters passage through the ship is almost quest like. You know, goal oriented, dodging menace and picking up fellow travelers along the way.

It was like Event Horizon, if Event Horizon hadn't sucked. Decent sci to the fi, and a pretty good suspense flick.

This could well be the best science fiction film I've ever seen. Saying anything at all about it would be giving away the extraordinary, extraordinary plot. Here's what I can say: It involves an inter-generational starship on a 123 year mission from an overpopulated earth to colonize an earthlike planet. Two crew members revive from hypersleep with no memory of who they are or what their mission is. Meanwhile, on board the starship, something has gone horribly, horribly wrong...
