Top Five Vampire Movies

Just a personal list, and in no particular order (and limited to theatrical motion pictures)...

Let The Right One In - brilliant foreign-language film based on the novel of the same name, a strange and disturbing yet touching love story between two children, one of whom is a vampire.

Shadow of the Vampire - rewrites cinematic history with the conceit that filmmaker F.W.Murnau actually hired a real vampire to play the lead in his silent classic Nosferatu.

Bram Stoker's Dracula - flawed but sumptuous and delightfully original re-telling of the novel, with a stellar cast.

Interview With The Vampire - adapted from Anne Rice's novel, an effective tale of someone's damnation and his slow realization that such is indeed his fate, once he made a certain choice.

Isle of the Dead - a curious film because it doesn't really deal with vampires per se but the belief in them, Boris Karloff giving a typically masterful performance. Interestingly, this seems to be only one on my list not based on some other work. Make of that what you will!

Well, that is my list. Please feel free to comment or draw up one of your own.

Near Dark is just fantastic. I also thought the first two Blade movies were very clever.

Good call Tjol, I liked Van Helsing too, fantastic scenery for the backdrops. I thought they'd have made a few more.......Indiana Helsing doing vamps across the globe and maybe time.
