Hadn't seen anything but possibility on this, saw the trailer when looking for Last Airbender Trailer, and Lo and Behold "Captain Tightpants" (Malcolm Reynolds - Firefly) is the Green latern, this could be a very cool movie

That's not an official trailer. I almost believed it myself before I saw the description. On a second watch, I can see where the various clips from other films and shows are used. Firefly, Superman Returns, Spider-Man 3, The Matrix Revolutions...

IMDb says Ryan Reynolds has the role.

I did not look at the trailer. All I want to know regarding the real new Green Lantern movie is, will he still possess the Dumbest Superhero Weakness in the Universe? Namely, impotence against anything yellow?

I say that as someone who thinks Green Lantern is one of the most awesome superheros ever created. But every time I think of the business with yellow, I just want to throttle somebody. If this has already been rectified in the comics, then my apologies. But, if he's still gripped by terror at the sight of a lemon or something, then I'm also sorry...very sorry for him.

AFAIK, this has been rectified. When Kyle Raynor was GL, his ring did not have the weakness to yellow. This is after the events of Emerald Twilight.

In an episode of The Big Bang Theory, the protagonists discuss the fact that the Golden Age Green Lantern's weakness was wood, while the more modern one's was yellow, and one of the protagonists comments, "good, then I can defeat them both with a No.2 pencil?"

Casting Ryan Reynolds for the Green Lantern sounds like casting Adam Sandler as Superman to me. But you never know. (Who'da thunk Bruce Willis as an action here before Diehard?)
