Anybody else watching this? I wasn't sure what to think the first couple episodes, but it's really grown on me.

I'm the same way. It took 2-3 episodes for me to get into it, but it's one of my "can't miss" shows now.

I gotta say that of all the shows that have been New Orleans based, this is most definately the closest to home that I have ever seen. So many details are there that only someone from here would take notice of. They have really gone through with extra effort to make sure that they capture the local flavor...and we have no accents! That is one thing that has driven me crazy with previous shows and / or movies that have been based down here. They either had us talking like we just came off of a plantation from the south side of Georgia, or like we just came off of the oyster boat down in Cocodrie, or as an extra from the set of Deliverance.

Now that being said, there are a couple of things that I do take issue with. In all of my life here, I have never seen an electric keyboard and violin duo as street musicians. Hell, I don't think that I have ever seen them separate, much less together.

The other problem that I have is that they are trying to portray the Big Chief as some sort of community hero in trying to get the projects reopened. We could not open those projects after the storm. We had too little police force down here to manage the population that we had. The people thet wanted to be here and be productive made it here and found ways to make a living (i.e., the hispanic population boom). Those guys got here by any means necessary and got to work rebuilding this city. Projects aren't what were keeping the Big Chief's people away, the lack of getting more of something for nothing was keeping them away.

Overall, I love this show. So many times I catch myself thinking about the characters and how much that they actually remind me of people that I have met down here...of course, with the exceptions noted above.

Too bad that this is based 5 yeras ago, though. The BP oil spill could sure make for some interesting storylines next season.

So I stand corrected. Me & the family went down to Jackson Square yesterday and the French Market to go to ther New Orleans Oyster Festival. Proceeds were going to the Save Our Coast Foundation, and it was a beautiful day...so we figured why not.

(and who knows how much longer we wll be able to get any oysters down here after much longer?)

So much to my chagrin and to my wife's delight (for my opinion on this matter I have made known to her regarding Treme), there is a duo of a guitarist and a violin...yes a violin...player in the Square performing as street musicians. Of course, the violinist was female, and asian at that. At least the guitarist was female too.

She had to be sure to throw that in my face, please be sure of that. And then to add insult to injury, in the opening of last night's show, there they are...together in the Square, a duo of violinist and guitarist.

I told my wife that HBO must have placed them guys there yesterday to add realism to their show for all of the tourists to see. She didn't buy it.

Well that sucked. Good episode last night, but damn.

Or culture in general.

I swear, though, if they kill Sonny... well, I'll still watch, but I'll be very unhappy.

I'm really looking forward to see how Annie develops after this.

While I agree the music is good, I stopped watching this series after season 1 simply because there was *too much* music. IMO anyway

I watched all of season 1 and it just kind of slogged along... just can't bring myself to keep watching. Is season 2 better? or worse? than season 1?

There's more music in season 2.
