Im sure this has been discussed B4 on the watch, in the second chronicals, final book and final acts, Lord Foul and Linden(spit)Avery(mother murderer) are the white gold wielders not TC. covernant gives Lord Foul the ring and as we know he kills TC with it, Linden Avery grovels in the dirt to grasp it when foul dissipates and at last does somthing useful that doesnt involve moaning/whinging/self pity and pissing off TC. She also uses the new staff of law that she did nothing to earn, other than blending poor old Findal and Vain, (she's good at using others).

I would say all of the above are white gold wielders... as well as Hile Troy albeit for a very small duration. But, in my opinion, only Thomas Covenant 'IS' the white gold and thus can use it to its full capacity.

Donaldson does like titles with multiple meanings and/or multiple referents. I would bet he meant all three. Or, rather, that he was referring to the abstract concept 'White Gold Wielder', a position and a responsibility which all three characters embodied. In different ways, as well.

And don't be confused with the White Gourd Wielder. That's a different guy.

Ohhh...I always thought it was The White Cold Welder. I never understood the title of the book. Then again, I had this cover:
