Gunslinger, Black House doesn't have enough of Jack in the Territories. It's too much about the biker gang and the lengthy passages prior to finding the abducted kids are overdrawn and excessively padded.

I loved the Territories plot. The rest is just so-so. I blame Straub.

His best was definitely 'The Talisman'.

Probably because Straub was restraining him.

Well, It seems to be the favorite around here, so I bought It a couple days ago. I don't have too much time to read right now though, so I don't know when I'll get to It. But I'm sure I'll enjoy It when I do.

Good choice Fist!! You'll love it! If I recall, the first part of the story can feel a bit dull.....but just wait until you get to the part where thay're kids....then you won't be able to put it down....

Bag of Bones - I love these because he makes you care about the main characters. You feel like he cares about them and because of that won't break your heart by hurting them too badly.

The Mist - I love apocalyptic stuff.

The Dead Zone - My early favorite when I had only read about 5 of his novels. Almost like the entire book he was asking you, ok you've got this power. What would you do? Thought provoking.

The Stand - First half only. Almost perfect post apocalyptic tale. The second half almost ruins it for me (even though it does have some poignant moments here and there).

The Shining - Saw the movie and the miniseries before I finally broke down and read the book. Fantastic.

Salem's Lot - In the same way saw both miniseries before reading the book. Enjoyed the first miniseries. Loved the book. Let's pretend the second miniseries never happened.

The Dark Tower - Felt like I had to follow it through, but really didn't enjoy it too much after Wizards and Glass.

Cell - Loved it. Got me into reading all sorts of Zombie stories and realized how much better they come across in print rather than on film. Once again love the feeling of "what would you do?" "how would you try to survive?" Felt the same way as I did about the first half of the Stand.

ive read almost everything but not in a decade at least. the top four are my alltime favorites of his. didnt care much for black house it was good but when i went in expecting the same magic as the talisman, it turned from adventure in the talisman to crime drama with some king mixed in.

How could any of you hate Drawing of the Three?? its the best book in the series!! i guess you either love or hate it.. just like TCTC.

I actually thought Christine was cool. Then I saw the movie and vomited. It was a travesty. I liked It, the Stand, Talisman, the Tommyknockers, and others. And I thought the movie IT was one of the scariest things I ever saw. Salem's Lot, I never read, but the movie with DAvid Soul scared me witless. OMG, little kids!!! Creepy, dood.

I debated reading Salem's Lot because I'd see the old miniseries several times and the new miniseries (didn't like it). The book was great and worth the read. Found the same to be true when I read the Shining also. So much more than is in either miniseries (liked them both).

I freaking loved it. The Gunslinger failed to suck me in personally. One of my favorite things about the series is how each book I've read so far is a remarkably different story from the previous ones. Drawing of the Three is more of a classic King story, and it's a great lead in to The Waste Lands.
