I have a copy of Runes with who I am guessing is Liand on the cover. Why do you think on SRD's site where he displays the cover art of all the books, the version with Liand is not even displayed?

It's not Liand, it's Esmer.
See the two Ranyhyn that came to him?
See the green eyes?
The curly, Hurachai hair?
Most revealingly, his garb, which is plainly:
"However, he wore a gilded cymar formed of a strange fabric which looked like it had been woven from the froth of waves..."

Yes, we've long since determined that was Esmer even before the covers on SRD's site were changed for AATE. I've heard SRD personally call that the "Caligula" cover (we joked about that here), and that he really doesn't like it...

Nice one Hue..

Took bad, if your protraying Liand on a cover, he looks to be in his forties on that pic.
Liand was a bit younger.. like late teens, early twenties.

Still looks like he's holding a PVC pipe..

But yes, in another release of Runes it was determined that it was Esmer who was on the cover. There should be a pic of it somewhere on the board.
