Demeanor of the ancient lords

This kind of goes back to Power that Preserves but it needs to be asked here since it was triggered by reading AATE Chapter 1.

At the end of Power that Preserves, when Covenant has forced Foul into his physical form, the Lords appear and they angrily urge Covenant to slay him. When Covenant says he can't, and instead has them laugh at Foul, they in fact all do. This presumably includes Kevin and Elena; it is not said that they DON'T.

In the Last Chronicles, Berek and Damelon are portrayed as fairly wise and gentle. Elena appears in a pretty grim form. Kevin is having some anger issues. So my questions:

1) Does it seem out of character for Berek and Damelon to have been urging the destruction of Foul in anger in the PtP?
2) Does it seem out of character for Elena and Kevin to have ended up laughing at him?

Thanks for any opinions... I considered asking in the GI but I'm not sure it's a focused enough question.

I thought the same thing on my most recent re-read. I think what we have on the face here is another case of the stand-alone first chronicles being expanded into the larger universe of the complete series.

There are all kinds of in-story rationalizations and explanations that can be offered for the inconsistency but its probably easier just to accept it for what it is - much like seeing the brush strokes in a painting, it reminds you that the artist exists and is actively creating something but ideally it shouldn't reflect poorly on the work itself even if it does draw your attention occasionally.
