It's just terrible livinging in the same city as SRD as I get to go to all his post publication book signings. I didn't think he was doing anything this time, but yesterday I checked his site and on October 19, 2010 at 7PM he's at Bookworks on Rio Grande (only about 10 big blocks away from his house). I am SO there. So send me your copies of AATE (I'm not kidding PM me) and I'll try to get them signed.

That is awesome! Unfortunately, the book doesn't come out until the 19th does it? How can we send it to you to have it signed that day? :(

How awful. I'll play a sad song for you now on my teeny-tiny violin.

Oh well, I could always pick up signed copies and sent them to you, if we trusted one another....

Is that plan being discussed anywhere?

Not yet, I don't think. But we keep hinting and danlo hasn't yet said no. So I'm assuming it's on.

We just need to nail down a date. Hey danlo, when you see SRD next month, ask him about his calendar next summer, okay?

(Thanks. I had half wondered if maybe there was a discussion in the AATE forum of which I would be unaware.)

I'll say more tomorrow-but the Elohimfest invitation has been delivered. Big crowd for such a little bookstore, so big he had to stand to do his reading which was about the first 8 pages of chapter one. I was the last one to have their book signed and to talk to him and he seemed somewhat exhausted, but he seemed happy to see a familiar face. Tam and I are planning to invite SRD and Jennifer to dinner sometime soon.

He said it has become increasingly difficult to get good constructive criticism form both his US and UK publishers these days so he specifically thanked his private reader (meaning such Watchers as Romeo and Seareach [PS I see you lurking through admin eyes, BTW, Seareach-lol])

Yeah, I know you can see me! I learned that long ago when Vain was an admin and used to stalk me! ;)

I've been lurking all day coz I'm excited! Finally some people to talk to about the book. :D But, well: thanks for the heads up, Danlo...or maybe I should be thanking SRD...but heh...nah!

I will say one thing about my copy of AATE: it's definitely the biggest SRD book I've ever owned and it really messes up my Fantasy/Sci Fi book shelf. I think SRD must have been reading from the UK version because there were a few substitutions and omissions. I have one or two new snippets, but when I come back later today you'll probably just hear a discourse of how, with his website, GI and ARCs and whatnots you don't really need my reports anymore and, two, how I can't seem to get 'uber-fan' out of my system whenever I see SRD. Now that part will be funny.

I'm off to take my daughter to school and to deposit buttloads of PTA money hanging around my house making me as paranoid and miserly as a flippin' banker.

There are good and bad things about being an uber-fan at Donaldson readings-the good thing was bumping into 3 guys that kept chattering away about their own Sci-Fi/Fantasy business while one of them was taking a bunch of pictures after the reading (while he was signing and talking to people). I know SRD is a very private person and doesn't like his picture taken-so I stood in front of the 'camera man' trying to make out his rocket ship emblem on his polo shirt and then I figured out who they were and sort of sneered at them and said, "Oh you're the Bubonicon guys aren't you?" which, kinda, shut them up. And I thought, where were you guys during the RotE and FR readings?

The bad part was when I was talking to people in front of Stephen: this one girl loved the last two books but didn't know there were others and I said, "Yes there are two earlier trilogies and this one will be a quadrilogy." I could feel Donaldson wince as he had earlier described the Last Chronicles as 'one novel in four volumes.' And then I was talking to another lady who asked him about his short stories and I said, "you should really try to find the older copy of Daughters of Regals as it has Gilden-fire in it--I felt and even harder wince that time...LOL

Fortunately he accepted our invitation very graciously... :P
