Question about Calderwood Books

Was going to send Joy a PM, but decided to publicly ask instead, in case anyone else ever has this or a similar question. :?

Broke down and bought a Sony Reader a while back. Love the little gadget!

Was wondering if the Calderwood e books are compatible with the Sony Reader? (The Reader uses EPUB files). Or is there free software available on the web some place to convert them over to compatible files if they are not compatible? That is usable for someone technologically inept such as myself?

(Same goes for Kindles, or Nooks, or others I might not be aware of, for those who have those rather than a Sony)?

I think I answered this at the Hangar, Duchess, but for general edification: One of the formats Joy uses is pdf, and I have successfully put .pdfs on my Sony Reader. So I know it can be done. It's not as straightforward as buying a book from the Reader Store, but it's not that hard, either -- the directions are in the user guide.

Not sure Kindles can handle a pdf -- my understanding is that Kindle owners have to buy everything from Amazon. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Dunno about the Nook or any other readers.

Fictionwise.com carries Calderwood Books' booklist. I don't know whether they convert the file to EPUB or not -- I haven't checked, they may simply sell whatever the publisher makes available -- but that's another avenue worth pursuing.
