Guide to Characters

Wouldnt it be cool to have a complete guide/sourcebook about the characters that we met in the Land? Like a page or two depending on how important that character was telling about what they did for the Land, or against it. Unfortunately....the lack of popularity the Chronicles has may encourage the publishing companies to not publish one...but there was an Atlas of the Land....
What do you think?

yes, I can type again!!!
I think it would be cool, though it would kind of be a spoiler. like If i just started LFB, and I read about lena and ''how important'' she was. then it would ruin or discourage me from continuing the book.
it sounds cool, though dont we have to get permission from SRD?
yeah, another spoiler reminder. It may ruin parts. sounds awesome

p.s.-- I just finished WGW

It would be a really useful and interesting addition to this site, although it would need to come with a spoiler warning. I doubt you would need permission as it wouldn't be a case of directly lifting copyrighted materials.

actually I think that is a great idea!! It doesnt have to contain spoilers .. ofcourse simply stating that Elena is the daughter of TC and Lena would be a spoiler .. but there arent too many of these kinds of surprises ..
It would be great to have a place at this site that gave a simple introduction to the main characters .. kept clinical it wouldnt need to expose too much about them ..
Vain what do you think?? We could submit information via email to vain and maybe he could paste the info onto a 'Character guide' page here or visa versa send them to Jay and post the page at the original Watch ..

just to be a pain in the neck, I do not really deem a guide necessary - Donaldson's world isn't by far as detailed as, say, Middle-Earth, where the vast number of proper names of Elves and places can confuse the reader, not to mention Tolkien's ever-shifting ideas as to who were who and did what.
The Land has maybe a dozen different people/races and about 20-25 significant characters, no more, and anyway, 90% of people who are here have read the chronicles several times, haven't they?:-))
but of course do not take my rambling as a disencouragement, but, personally I would much more welcome a detailed map of the Land, or, say, fanart that helps to visualize all the things SRD so beautifully wrote

Aman... I ALSO want the fan art, but have had no responses on it. I would love to see some interpretations of the Land and its people.
I must say, however, that a guide can be so much more than a simple character backround. It coould be a psycho ananlytical history or even a detailed history and family lineage.

There's plenty options and I'm open to all of them. I would like to draw up a graphical timeline of the land. Possibly an interactive one at that

The timeline idea seems brilliant!

LOL

Actually, the timeline I'm thinking about is linked to the map of the land and tries to capture TCs travels, and other significant events. I always found myself getting confused as to whether he was going north, south etc and how long it took. Of course, I may need to read and map out as I go - rather painstakingly slow so maybe it could be a collaborative effort

Volunteers? One per book?

There is a timeline at theland.antgear.com/ but that doesn't sound like what Vain has in mind.
Sounds coooool.
And family trees and all.. I like it.
I'd be happy to help out.

oh yeah .. 'amy' does raise a valid point .. there are a lot less characters in the series .. and thus less of a demand for such a guide.
but from time to time .. we may forget who the mudfolk people are - for example .. or some of the old Lords mentioned .. so as a resource .. it could still a useful thing ..
I guess really SRD gives a brief character identification in his glossary .. we could just copy and paste the glossary and maybe add to it where we can ..

There are important indivual characters, and important species, whether they be Wraiths, or extinct ones like the Demondim, I think a guide to characters, species, and maybe locations would be helpful, and just plain cool!
