Just received this email from Steve-
I was sorry to hear (from Romeo) that you did not receive the email I sent several months ago, responding to your invitation. I'll be happy to attend another Elohimfest, and the date you suggested (June 11) looks good.

PM me if you have questions about arrangements and accommodations -I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice in this thread from highly satisfied veterans. Tam and I hope to see you all in Albuquerque!

>added as of Jan, 20 Elohimfest primer/sampler:
This is our 3rd Elohimfest gathering

The lower priced airport area suite/motel where aliantha will be staying:
Hilton Garden Inn
A conclave of civilized suite-like (breakfast/pool) motels (around 100 dollars per night) near the airport about a half mile from my stonedown where Elohimfesters have stayed in the past:
Marriott's Courtyard Albuquerque Airport
La Quinta Inn Albuquerque Airport
Marriott Residence Inn
Country Inn & Suites

about a mile away:
Best Western Barcelona Court

Our itinerary from E-Fest 2
Friday afternoon/evening- BBQ at danlo's house

Saturday
Morning- Breakfast at the Flying Star
Afternoon- High Tea with Tam (danlo's wife)
Evening- SRD will be joining us for the evening of Saturday the Second for dinner. Bob Vardeman (Sci-Fi author and longtime friend of SRD) has signed on to be Official Toastmaster to introduce SRD and acknowledge LFB's 30th anniversary.

Sunday
Trip to Andelain!

So it's basically a 3 day event with people arriving, checking in, getting settled on Friday with everybody then arriving at my house between 12 and 4PM for a barbecue and meet and greet party-that can last to midnight if you can handle it. Saturday we have a designated breakfast meet-up at The Flying Star (which features award winning pastries) about a 1/2 mile away by the university. The we kind of shuffle off to motels or my house, sight-see, whatever, end up back at my house around 2 or 3 for high tea-then get ready for dinner with SRD (at a selected restaurant-be prepared to pay for yourself) followed by a Q & A/book signing session. Sunday we get together to hang out at my house, play games (wicked Scrabble game last time) and go on a road trip to the Jemez Mountians (just an hour away) and the Valles Caldera, which we lovingly call Andelain.

Once you are seriously committed to attending PM me for my phone # and any further questions. We had roughly 15 folks show up for the first fest in '04 and over 20 in '07. (we also have professionals film the Q & A session that eventually appears in the Structured Interviews on the Official Stephen R. Donaldson website)

I just googled Albuquerque, and it's not within walking distance, so I guess I'm out again.

It's like I told you the last time: stowaway on a tramp freighter across the Gulf to Matamoros, we'll take up a collection to have a Coyote smuggle you through Juarez and up the Rio Grande.

You do realize I'm a wanted man in Mexico. The Rojo brothers are not the forgiving type.

Hmmm, that's not a good situation, in fact could be bad-or downright ugly...

You mean the Mexican goverment on one side? Maybe the Americans on the other side? Me right smack in the middle? Uhn-hn. Too dangerous.

Got a good deal at the Hilton Garden Inn near the airport ($60/night), so that's where I'm staying. Y'all feel free to designate it the Official Hotel of Elohimfest 2011. Or not. I don't care. As long as somebody is willing to play chauffeur for me -- if I don't have my car, I'm hoping some kind soul will be willing to give me rides back and forth to the various venues.

Still researching travel options. Amtrak is gonna be $300 or so, and that's with sitting up all night -- no sleeper car. 8O Hoping for a big airfare sale. Or a carpool.

Did a quick check for travel options, and I can guarantee this'll run me under $800, which gives me a framework to start my planning with.

Now, with some careful shopping, I should be able to cut that figure in half :)
