Attention-newbies, lurkers, vets & long lost souls!!!!!
Stephen R. Donaldson has just agreed to meet with us on June the 11th for Elohimfest '11
So what is Elohimfest?
So far, every June following the publication of a book of the Final Chronicles of Thomas Covenant Watchers have gathered in Albuquerque New Mexico to meet each other and have dinner with Stephen R. Donaldson followed by a Q and A session and book signing. Last week Mr. Donaldson confirmed his attendance. This will mark the third time my wife and I will host the gathering-so if you're a member of this site, or become a member you are cordially invited to join us-primarily on the dates of June 10th through the 12th. Here's a sample of what happened last time- (June 1st-3rd '07)
Our itinerary from E-Fest 2
Friday afternoon/evening- BBQ at danlo's house
Saturday
Morning- Breakfast at the Flying Star
Afternoon- High Tea with Tam (danlo's wife)
Evening- SRD will be joining us for the evening of Saturday the Second for dinner. Bob Vardeman (Sci-Fi author and longtime friend of SRD) has signed on to be Official Toastmaster to introduce SRD and acknowledge LFB's 30th anniversary.
Sunday
Trip to Andelain!
So it's basically a 3 day event with people arriving, checking in, getting settled on Friday with everybody then arriving at my house between 12 and 4PM for a barbecue and meet and greet party-that can last to midnight if you can handle it. Saturday we have a designated breakfast meet-up at The Flying Star (which features award winning pastries) about a 1/2 mile away by the university. The we kind of shuffle off to motels or my house, sight-see, whatever, end up back at my house around 2 or 3 for high tea-then get ready for dinner with SRD (at a selected restaurant-be prepared to pay for yourself) followed by a Q & A/book signing session. Sunday we get together to hang out at my house, play games (wicked Scrabble game last time) and go on a road trip to the Jemez Mountians (just an hour away) and the Valles Caldera, which we lovingly call Andelain.
Once you are seriously committed to attending (you must be a registered member of this site) PM me for my phone # and any further questions. We had roughly 15 folks show up for the first fest in '04 and over 20 in '07. (we also have professionals film the Q & A session that eventually appears on the Structured Interviews section of the Official Stephen R. Donaldson website)
To add you name, join in on casual Elohimfest chatter, hotel/motel info, arrangements, question, carpooling etc... follow this link. We hope to see you there!
