Mega Solar Flare

I can't believe no one's posted this yet. Apparently it stared Monday and has already disrupted some radio signals, it could disrupt some satellite communication in the eastern hemisphere and it should create a very extended aurora borealis effect in the northern hemisphere over the next two days.
Flare
this coming from Fox News and I'm still laughing about their motto...

Unless is causes anarchy and immolates the Western seaboard of the U.S., I have no interest.

Maybe that's why our work e-mail system went wacky yesterday...?
Nah.

In the movie 2012, it was solar flares that carried neutrinos that heated the Earth's core causing widespread disaster.
...soooo, the end is near... eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die

It can be followed by an electromagnetic aftershock that can effect the planet on certain levels and of course a spiritual one too-as it is the precursor of the Mayan end of days .
Hey we posted at the same time! See great minds think alike!
Space.com wrote:The mega flare, which registered as a Class X2.2 flare on the scale of solar flares, was the first class X flare to occur in the new solar cycle of activity, which began last year. The sun is now ramping up toward a solar maximum around 2013.
The disturbance can create a geomagnetic storm in Earth's magnetic field.

Guess it's time to make a dent in that bottle of amaretto.

It's been soooo long since I've had amaretto sours! I need to get in contact with my drinking buddies (as a rule, I never drink alone... yet...)

Interesting stuff.

I was completely unaware, thanks for the heads-up.

egads man..in the Haven Farm, I posted a few years back, a link to Astronomy Picture of the Day...and yea..guess what ? uhh huh..solar flare is their todays pic...And no..there is no excuse for the Fox News link..none. Spaceweather dot com has been on top of this story within minutes of its breaking..Actually.. they had quoted scientists saying the #1158 sunspot group had good chances of producing a decent solar flare ..before it did. If any body is really interested in just how nasty our wonderful sun is,,google spaceweather. com and visit it once a day..You'll be wearing sunscreen 1000 soon. Nasty I tells ya,,NASTY!!

Neutrinos???!!! REALLY?
Ali and Orlion are more likely to hiccup while drinking amaretto, causing them to cough, startling the cat who leaps knocking over the bottle, which shatters launching a splinter of glass into their eyes, the teary blur making them accidentally try to rinse it out with Drano instead of contact solution, thereby permanently blinding one eye during the brief time it takes to run shrieking in pain to dial 911, trip over the cat, fall down the stairs, roll out the door into the street and get run over by a Disaronno truck at exactly the same time than solar flare neutrinos are to heat up a single drop of water in the entire solar system.
But, on topic...something has been interfering with the only decent radio station I have in my car the last couple days.

I donated you 10 tokens for that. Keep up the good work.

The focus of the storm was at the South Pole (southern magnetic pole), so we escaped the worst of it.

Yeah, it pissed me off when I heard it too. And actually, we're being bombarded constantly by neutrinos from the sun... it's how we know it's still alive

It's still today... when I finally get a chance to get drunk, that's when we all die (so about six pm tomorrow
