That's right, I'm starting a thread about an 18 year old miniseries.

It's rather an odd thing that I didn't watch it when it initially aired, especially given how Dana Delany makes me feel in my pants. I must have been working late or something when it was on. I dunno.

I've only just seen the first DVD, I think there are two more 45 minute episodes left, but so far I'm relatively impressed. It's relatively prescient as far as technology is concerned (not so much fashion-wise). It's also interesting noting the tie-ins with politics, technology, and religion. In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, they talk about the Liberty Act increasing police authority after a terrorist attack......

I think it tries too hard to be weird and stylish, and the storytelling suffers because of that. But it's a really interesting premise that it's attacking. I don't know if the last 90 minutes will manage to tie it up, but so far it's definitely been worth watching.

Didn't Oliver Stone have something to do with that mini-series? I remember watching it upon original airing, and James Belushi (unless I am mistaken) being good but distracting. And Dana Delany with the tattoo making me feel in my pants like you are describing, or rather, not. I remember definitely enjoying it at first, but kinda losing the thread a bit by the end, possibly because of fatigue that is not the fault of the show. But I definitely remember enjoying it more than any episode of Twin Peaks I had seen, which seemed at the time to be the nearest counterpart.

It actually ended reasonably well, but there was quite a bit more that could have been fleshed out. If you're looking for something for your Netflix queue, it's worth a watch.

I remember when that initially aired. I recall watching it as a lark at first but then decided to see it all the way through. Anything that has weird characters in it is worth seeing.
