In response to the overwhelmingly negative posting actions in The Close, I have decided to create this topic in order to panhandle for supporters.

Is anyone on my side? Or, do I stand alone against the Sirs/Madames of the Forum? Please don't make fun of my grammar or my picture in the Motley Crew album.

To all those who were short with me, I would like to say, "A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool."

Please be kind and allow us to rewind to the time before I posted on Lore Master's comments.

I stand behind what I bluejay way say but maybe not so much in the way I say? I come off as a Rudy starring Sean Astin but unfortunately that is a side effect of my condition. The brain pains and social darwinism I have mentioned before are not illustrative allegory, they are legitimate place goal kickers that invade my physical structure and threaten to blast my locks off my fore and backhead. I wear a wool capinstein most of the year to stop this.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

As you yourself pointed out in a post elsewhere, every person has the right to an opinion, and the expression of that opinion.

As you yourself seem to acknowledge above, there are ways of saying things, and there are ways of saying things. Saying things one way will engender a certain reaction and perception. Another way will engender different ones.

I'm not saying that you are entirely to blame. Some of the responses you received were not what I would consider ideal, especially in regards to a relatively new member possibly largely unaware of the social dynamic prevalent here.

Neither however do I consider you blameless either. A modicum of tact and reserve may be called for in unfamiliar situations, especially in light of longstanding relationships of which you would be largely unaware.

To presume to become involved invites response. To presume to become involved in the way you did invites the type of response you received.

If everybody has the right to an opinion and the expression thereof, then expect opinions to be expressed in reaction to yours which you may not like, share or appreciate. We are enjoined to avoid personal attack but that does not mean it cannot happen.

And while you make much mention of your condition, your choice to participate does not mean that any condition will ameliorate the consequences of your participation. People will respond in kind, and restraint begets restraint, as lack thereof begets the same.

If you felt provoked, consider that those responding to you felt likewise and bear it in mind for the future.

Do not feel that you are somehow set against all others. We strive always to be both fair and accommodating insofar as it is possible. We ask only the same in return.

I'm glad Av exists too...wait. How do we know he exists? 8O Back to the Close!

On a serious note, Babybottomfeeder: for my part all I ever tried to do was point out how your behaviour caused people to react in certain ways. I never meant to attack, belittle or presume to be wiser than you.

And I, for one, am happy to start afresh.

I think posting on the websites encourages hurt feelings. Things we say day to day go through a filter that doesn't seem to exist on the net. People say things fast and impulsively when posting, as I am sure you and I have both done. (thank God for the EDIT button), things you may never say in person. People can be perceived as harsher or more straight forward than they would be in person.

The best example I can give is driving. People cut you off, cut in front of you, flip you off. If you were standing in a line people would hesitate to cut into the line, give you the finger. But in a car there is a cloak of anonymity.

As an ubber-sensitive person I can tell you there is NO PLACE on the web more courteous, more kind, more understanding or more open minded than this site and these people. I think there are many reasons for that but that would divert this post. I will say that when a majority of your day is spent on the web, for work and recreation, what is posted on the web about you and to you becomes way too important. My suggestion is when that happens, take a step away from the keyboard, get outside and meet people in 3d. It will help with your perspective.

Why? Why do we need to forget what you said? You acted like an jerk to Loremaster, and when Lord Foul asked you why, you acted like an jerk to him too. You owe them an apology. You cannot act like this and then say, 'let's forget this never happened. Man up and apologize, jerk.

What a bunch of crap.

Of course, I'm kidding. It's true that we do enjoy some anonymity, but it is also easy to misconstrue things without body language showing it is a joke. I don't think that is the reason for the incident, but it does come up a lot with the written word. You hear your own tone of voice while reading, and frequently enough it is not how it was intended. Which is why I felt it necessary to say that I was kidding. Anyway...just saying...

Yeah, I'm famous for my crap. (we need a load of crap icon) Not following the other post, just talking about the internet in general.

Foul brought up what I said out of context in another topic. Should I hold you accountable forever for what you posted in another topic? For instance this:
___ wrote: Your Red Father should have spanked you more as a kid, or at least every time you got an 'F' in Grammar. Speaking of Grammar, yours sucks. Your attacks on Lord Foul, Loremaster, and whoever else, suck. Your constant diatribe of 'don't judge me' sucks. Your lack of coherence sucks. Your constant use of unrelated (and irrelevant) pop-culture references sucks. The fact that you think it makes you look intelligent is hilarious to me. You wish you had the kind of power this thread appears to have given you, but be assured, it is an illusion, and even this illusion will be short-lived. The games you play suck. Are you indeed fragile? That must suck. Am I attacking you? Suck it up.

This is an anti pc goonism stance for moral suck-it-upness. I would never under normal circumstances drag something you said into another forum but when you continue to harass me I feel I am Dutch boy paint brand Cornered.

Are you incapable of saying you're sorry, BBF?

So far you've insulted Loremaster, Lord Foul and ___ -- all of whom are long-standing members here, *as well as* forum moderators. When it's been suggested that you apologize, you say people should make allowances for you because you're fragile.

You can't have it both ways. If you want people to stop attacking you, stop attacking *them*.

To add to Ali's point, it's kinda hard to rewind and start over when you bring up the past constantly and try to make sure everyone knows about it. That's not rewinding.

The point is, you seem to be more on the "offensive" against posters than on the "defensive" against those same posters.

It'd also help to not make up imaginary insults. No one has commented on your photo, no one, therefore, has insulted you.

Aww, leave the little girl alone. She just wants attention, but she can't handle all those big, bad words.

I really apologize guys. Perhaps all this could have been avoided had I PMed babybottomfeeder about his post to Loremaster, but at the time all I could hear was "troll" in my ear and the need to confront it on its own turf. Perhaps that decision was a bit rash.

In any case, BBF: you can't just run amok on other posts, make a topic, get instant forgiveness and go back to your old pattern. This topic could well be the first sign you understand that (though only marginally, showing your inability to take it on the cheek from ___), but at some point I do hope you begin that long walk of trust-building with the rest of us. That takes active and honest participation here at the Watch.

I wish you the best of luck.

Don't apologize, Foul. The little girl started it with her bumbling attack of Loremaster, so let her apologize first. If she can't handle criticism, or attacks that mirror her own, then she should not have started this. As for her theoretical brain damage, that's not in play here. Her posts are plenty coherent. Her stupid 'be kind, rewind' and 'don't touch me'...I mean, 'don't judge me' mantras aren't in the least bit humorous/clever, but they prove she knows what she's doing. This pathetic, and completely disingenuous sympathy ploy wouldn't work on the Terry Brooks fan site, so it doesn't have a prayer here. She is simply the fruit of the month, soon to rot and whither away.

Don't really know what's going on here, but my two thoughts/cents

A) Don't feed the trolls.
B) Why is this in A&S?

[edit to add]

From the George thread and the first Arc post, I just assumed BBF was Foul's (or someone else's) sock puppet. Otherwise... <50 posts, starting stuff. Yeah, I still go with A.

Yeah...I'm just gonna Thomas Jefferson this one.

And yes. I hire sock puppets to write my poems.

I am a battle hardened fantasy player in the cosmic Forum posting Gladiatorial leagues now. I can withstand tongue bouncing lashes and sword snapping towel snaps in the locker room. Don't worry about my fragile nature Orlion, I will soon feel the overwhelming self confidence I once had when I still lived with my father. Don't worry about my "defense", "offense" or "New Orleans NAWWWWfense". I will from now on, keep my nose and knows to the kindstone/mindstone. Don't take this as an attack Orlion. It is simply a Vox Influx awakening for everyone :) At least I hope it is :) Seriously guys let's be most excellent to each other. Like a Brother From Another Planet. Imagine that that scared/confused alien was me and, give me the benefit of the doubt. I am an alien bug sapper coming into a hermetically sealed neighborhood? No? My ways and mores are different, exciting and quite new, are they not? Do I not bring through the singing spring a new thing to cling to? I am the facet in the diamond you were missing. At least, I hope to be ;0

I do not understand? Why would I apologize to Lord Foul again? I have apologized in The Close? Must these apologeez continue at a level amount until everyone has come across one of them randomly?

As for the artist formely known as ___,
I feel I owe this kind stranger no apology. The royal jelly They attacked me in what i now know is the art of Trolling. I kept hearing this term pop up in the topic and thought and bought that it was an inside edition joke. I got curioso cabinet and looked it up and came across this:
Wookiepedia wrote:In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in "that was an excellent troll you posted". While the term troll and its associated action trolling are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with trolling being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term troll to describe "a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."
I can see from this definition, how one might call me a troll from my post to Lore Master? I was very angry when I read his topic and did not know that there was such etiquette on a Forum. For that, I deeply apologize to Loremaster.

However, I must point out that it looks as if the real Skoal dipping Troll by this definition is ___ who is obviously trying to elicit a reaction. I get this ____ and am tired of the arguing. Furthermore, he has to know the etiquette? Maybe not, he might also be new :)

So, give ____ the same benefit of the doubt if he is new, as he might just be rusting full of mountains of emotion like I was that day with the Lore Master. I spend hours and hours on my computer playing games and working at my online jobblehut, so I tend to take things on the interhead as if they were tendons flowing through my body. Speaking of tendons, did you guys think that your body was a big bag of blood when you were kids? It is a funny concept but I believe from gory/spooker films, kids get the idea that humans are just explodable Gallagher Watermelons. Ha ha ha :) Just a tension easing topic!
