... quick - we ain't got a Minister of Defense anymore.

Karl Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg - a name so surreal that you'd reckon only Hollywood could invent it for your typical German villian - resigned today because of what became to be known here as "the doctorate plagiarism scandal". I reckon it's back to Castle Wolfenstein for you now, Theo.

Well, Belgium didn't have any government at all for 249 days between last year and this, and they were just fine...

...What does that suggest?

I think it does more than suggest, it cries out loud that we spend a hell of a lot on something which might be a luxury rather than a necessity.

America hasn't had a functional President for the past two odd years and they seem to be coping :)

I care a lot about Belgians, especially when they hit our autobahns. Well, actually care is the wrong word here - it's more like I worry.

As long as Beligum continues to produce superior beer I'm delighted for them to have whatever form of Government they see fit to have.

Kinda like Jose is a common name for women in Spanish speaking countries, always coupled with Maria.

Screw the chocolate as long as Gulden Draak, Chimay, and Orval continue to flow from Flander's fields I will be a happy man.

SUPERIOR? Compared to German beer the Belgian stuff tastes like lukewarm cat pee - and I'm usually not that patriotic.

I have to second this. Thank goodness the breweries in Texas--the good ones, I mean--adhere to the German beer standards.

Y'know, to take this back to the privatisation argument...there are some things that only governments have the money and the motivation to do. Things that won't make a profit. Would man have gone to the moon if the bottom line was the only important factor?

If they had, then they would have sent a mineralogist to check for mining sites and the company that funded the mission would own the mineral rights.

Vader, Hashi,

Y'all have obviously not tasted Chimay-Premier, Orval, or Gulden Draak. Those put German beers to same. Subtle, complex, and delicious. Belgium is the is the true King of Beer.
