Awesome.
Now my problem is that I don't remember anything from the last book. Except some blood oranges. And a sea voyage. God, either that book sucked, or my memory is getting pretty bad. I don't really want to reread just the last one. But I don't want to reread all of them either. Hmm... what's everyone else doing?

Reminders for all, from my unreliable memory of many years ago:
Arya joined an assassin's cult in Braavos; Loras got horribly scarred in the siege on wherever it is that Stannis Baratheon had his fortress, I forget the name; Cersei got fat and started a lesbian relationship with the very suspicious (Mereenese?) woman I've forgotten the name of; Stannis and the red woman did... something... at the Wall.
Oh, and IIRC Jaime put Breane (sp?) on the gallows, and overall kinda acted a little more like the dick he was before ASoS.
Wasn't Feast the one with the chapters on the nation in the south and the one on the islands? I've completely forgotten what those storylines were about. Was the south going to declare for Daenerys?
Edit: I can't remember if this was in Feast or one of the preview chapters George posted years back, so I'll spoil it:

Was the fat kid who is friends with Jon sent to Braavos? On his way to the Citadel or something?

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

Waddley,
My favorite GRRM work is Dying of the Light. I'm a big ASOIAF fan but I don't think it's his best writing to date. This is the real thing. We'll have the book July 12 of this year.
BTW, what GRRM does with his time is really none of our business.

In general, Scot, I would absolutely agree with you: What anyone does with their own time is no one else's business.
But, but, the second he puts up a blog, starts posting about everything he's doing except working on the book that 95% of the people are there to hear about, promising dates and then failing those deadlines, ignoring question after question about the books, going on long tangents about anything other than what he is famous for in the first place, then it become's other people's business. I, along with several other people I know (on the 'net and otherwise), would have never have even began the series had we known that it was never going to end. The ASOIAF fans are what have given Gurm the ability to work on his side projects, take his fourth honeymoon out of the country, eat every greasy thing within arms reach, not to mention a HBO series that promises to be the best thing that's ever been on tv. So I would argue that not only do we have every right to judge him on what he does with his time, but he owes it to us to, at the very least, be honest about the status of his books.
But I'll admit that I'm bitter. I wasn't bitter six years ago, though. I can promise you that.
(If I'm wrong, I'll make a big apology card, complete with glitter and construction paper and crayon hearts, and send it to the man myself. Hold me to it.)

Waddley, the not-a-blog is his personal blog. He made a "what's the latest on the next book" page specifically for people who only care about that, and updated it as often as the information changed - which was almsot never, the news was "he's working on it, it's slow going, and he's not going to estimate a finish date". The not-a-blog is not going to be all about what page number he's up to all the time just because a lot of people with no perspective don't think celebrities should have lives outside of whatever the thing is that they do to be famous.
