It is interesting, because the readers of the series don't find out the full extent of his scheming until the end of the third book.

The Spider is the next character that has to be developed-I'll be watching very closely for it in the next episode.

I'm stunned. They had an opportunity to show sex and didn't take it. :P

(So, maybe they draw the line at gang rape?)

Keep in mind, this was the episode Martin wrote. Funny how that worked, huh?

There was already too much going on in the episode to add unneeded stuff. Everything happened at an almost incomprehensible rate.

And besides, there was Hodor with his full frontal nudity so no need to be disappointed ;)

Well, even though I knew what was coming in the scene at the Sept, it was still incredibly emotional. They filmed that scene very well IMO.

Kind of sad to see the season end tonight. I want more! :)

well it has ended with a bit of a surprise - if you haven't read the books (like i haven't)

i thought a title was figurative - turns out it was literal.

I'm disappointed by the treatment of one of the best chapters in the book - where Maester Luwin takes Bran down into the crypts to prove that Ned isn't there, and then the part in the tower before the raven arrives.

That whole chapter was excellently written, and does so much to build Maester Luwin's character, and he gets cut from the crypt part and the rest of the chapter dropped entirely.

They also dropped the most dramatic and significant "when": "When your womb quickens, and you bear a living child."
That's a pretty important detail, that Daenerys lost the chance of ever having children for Khal Drogo.

I'm not sure exactly what the purpose was of the Grand Maester Pycelle scene; I know he'll feature more in the next season, and that it will become clear if it wasn't already that he's an obsequious fool who just panders to the people in power, but I don't know that we needed such a long scene of him, especially when it's in favour of showing better scenes like the Maester Luwin one I mentioned above.

The main problem with this episode (in my opinion) is that it didn't really leave you wanting more (you know, in a burn down buildings sort of way). There is a focus the writers are going for, and with the limited space that they have, they can't include everything. To the tell the truth, Bran kinda ceased to be important a while back in the scope of the TV series. His scene (and others) did help to elucidate past events that were eluded to, but not much else.

We also get a very clear sense that the supernatural is a part of Westeros, and not just North of the Wall.

Over all, a solid episode, even if it's the weakest (they're definitely setting up for season 2)

HAHAHAHA, awesome. XD I'm imagining a Mario-ish Tyrion jumping through the Skycell level of Eyrie, surrounded by little puffy clouds and chased by an angry Lysa, a fatter, older, redhead version of Princess Toadstool.

BTW in the Game of Thrones board game expansion called "A Storm of Swords" Ned Stark is apparently still alive in the Lannister's dungeon. How does that make ANY sense at all????

Does it say that explicitly?
