that issue came out in 1977, I was 9 years old. It had everything I loved about comics as a kid. lots and lots of superheroes; most of whom I knew little or nothing about.

the Teen Titans East I already know : Robin, Speedy, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash. add Bumblebee, Mal and Harlequin - characters I knew nothing about.

the Teen Titans West were new to me : Lilith, Golden Eagle, Hawk and Dove, Bat-Girl and Beast Boy.

of course such a funky, free-form could not exist for long. Lilith is dead, as is Harlequin. Golden Eagle was retconned, Bat-Girl became Flamebird.

while I believe that comic books are better in total quality nowadays - I miss cool concepts like Titans West or the Defenders.

writers like Geoff Johns seem intent in destroying anything that might be too much fun.

I didn't get into the Titans (or any DC books except Swamp-Thing) until the Marv Wolfman/George Perez reboot about five years later. I still have them all; they're some of my favorite comics.

the Wolfman/Perz issues are great. collected them at the time. wish i still have them.

loved the Doom Patrol issues

that is some gorgeous art. everything clicked for that series. I think I will be searching for those now.

Wolfman/Perez Titans is among the best comics ever. Deathstroke, Brother Blood, The Brotherhood of Evil, Red Star...
