Covering hosting costs (April Fools 2011)

Dear KW

I have been covering the ever-increasing costs of running KW for almost 9 years now and it's starting to get a bit much. I have been approached by a few friends of other authors who have offered to pay for promoting their specific interests here at KW.

The first step in the list of agreed changes is on our logo but we will be gradually adding a few more changes such as the images at the bottom of the forum, and links to the forums of the other authors - with forums here at KW for these authors that our sponsors will moderate and post material that is in support of their endeavours.

I hope and trust that you will support these changes and understand that they are for the greater good and survival of KW and that I will be using this opportunity to recoup my investment before turning the site over to our sponsors to run and manage as they see fit.

Thanks

Vain

The banner design isn't mine - it was approved by the new committee that now effectively runs KW from a cost point of view. I dont particularly like it but that's not my call.

I see the timing of this announcement is a bit unfortunate - i am running on NZ dates so hadn't thought of this so apologies if that has caused confusion as to the validity of the current state of affairs.

To be honest using Terry Brooks and Goodkind for these things is getting old. I expected maybe a bit of variety when I saw this post but the banner hadn't updated yet, and was disappointed to see the same old names appear.

He co-wrote the Dune prequels with Brian Herbert.

Yes, but don't hold it against him. I really liked the Saga of Seven Suns. (Admittedly, only read the first 4, but will get there.)

I do actually know who he is (although a year ago I wouldn't have had a clue). :) He's also tied up with Writers of the Future.

I like the banner, its got a Monty Python-esque dry humor to it, it even leaves off the "R" in his name for good measure.
