Why is this story focusing on the whole "close approach" of this object, when the SHAPE of this thing is so anomalous!!!!!????
Seriously, Vesta and Palas are nearly the size of Ceres, and do not contain enough mass to be gravitationally spherical. Surface tension in zero-g might cause a smaller molten object to solidify in a sphere, but it doesn't seem to me this object is small enough for that.
Why am I the only one here who is sitting here wondering why this asteroid is so round?
I am astounded by it!
