Star Wars: Darth Vader's finger prints

Why do you suppose Darth Vader's helmet is absolutely covered in finger prints and smudges in "A NEW HOPE" and is polished shiny clean thereafter? How was the mess cleaned up? The force? Lemon fresh pledge? How?

He mastered that particular use of the Force between those two episodes. Either that, or the expanded budget allowed for him to have his awn personal helmet-polisher....

I think its just sloppy. Your average man on the go sith lord should have more pride.
I'm sure it had something to do with Lucas making the first film on a relatively shoe string budget.

More important is how did the prints get there in the first place. Vader wears gloves. I thnk that the emperor gave him a good-natured head-noogie.

Sure its cool. You will probably find that at the end of the final film Obi-wan will put fingerprints all over the helmet as he's kicking Vader/Anakin's butt.
