Best of 2011 so far

Doing this earlier than normal. I usually wait til around November, I think. But this year, I'm seeing a lot better releases than last year.

In no particular order, good to great releases so far this year.

Watson Twin's - Night Covers
Duncan Sheik - 80s Covers
Adele - 21
Amos Lee - Mission Bell (my fav of the year so far)
Avril Lavigne - Goodbye Lullaby
The Decemberists - The King is Dead
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Francesca Battistelli - 100 More Years
Gomez - Whatever's On Your Mind
Lucenda Williams - Blessed

I'm still a fan but don't find Lady Gaga's Born This Way up to the level of her previous releases. Ok, but not good or great to me.

Hope the second half of the year produces some more gems. If Nerina Pallot would ever release her stuff in US iTunes instead of making us wait a year or two, her album, Year of the Wolf, might be on this list.

It's a slow year for me. I'm experiencing new bands, but that's in the past. Last week, though, I got Symphony X's Iconoclast which is just amazing.

Yeah, it's kind of early for this. The only 2011 cd I've bought yet is Kate Voegele's 'Gravity Happens'.

Clockwork Angels hasn't come out yet. That'll be the best of 2011.

Had to look up what this was... I'm sorry, I've got a life :P

Listened to Caravan, though, and it was pretty awesome.

Not much of one, if you had to look that up.

Hmm, I didn't realize Joss had a new cd out. I'll have to get it. So far, all I've gotten this year is:

21 - Adele
Gravity Happens - Kate Voegele
Green Naugahyde - Primus
Evanescence - Evanescence

Fortunately, I like them all. I plan on getting the Yes cd before year's end; I listened to about 25 minutes of it on YouTube and liked it, so I may as well get it.

I haven't bought many this year. Off the top of my head:

Puscifer - Conditions of my Parole
Washington - Insomnia
Gotye - Making Mirrors

Puscifer is great, Washington is good in parts, and Gotye is brilliant, IMO.

They Might Be Giants - Join Us
Dead Milkmen - The King In Yellow
The Rainmakers - 25 On

Wow...I seem to be stuck in the late 80s. Fortunately, these bands are still making music.

Just picked up Dia Frampton's Red and will add it to my list.
