Win Wayfriend's Money Idea Stolen! - Wallpapers

So, this is much like the Wayfriend's thread, with wallpapers as contest items and WGDs from me. Much credit to Wayfriend for the original idea and to Cagliostro, aliantha, sindatur and dANdeLION for giving the idea to make new games like that.
Cagliostro wrote:I was fond of Wayfriend, but probably the part I mourn the most in his vanishment was the death of this thread. I'm thinking of being the producer of a new gameshow basically ripping off this thread, but I don't feel creative enough to be able to come up with the topics. I currently have some WGDs burning a hole in my pocket, and rather than save up for the overwhelmingly difficult items as I originally thought I would, it seems reviving one of my favorite ideas on the Watch would be a better use of my hard earned WGDs. It was always fun to see all the creativity at work, though I never participated, but always meant to. And since I'm funding it, I want to reserve the option to be able to compete as well, if the judging is done by fellow Watchers. And if I win, I just hold on to my WGDs.
So, what I really need is an idea person to come up with the concept each time. We could discuss compensation, as it seems a bit unfair for the person who is creating the topic to compete, but then again, it is being judged by peers, so maybe that would be legit (although they would have the edge on what the topic is each time). What say you all? Is anybody interested in the game anymore?

Upon thinking on it further, we could have everyone throw out topics, and the winning topic (judged by me) could get a bit of compensation. Not the full 500, as I'd prefer the funds to last for a little while.
aliantha wrote:New thread. Way might yet come back someday and resurrect this one. (I have nothing to base that on except unreasoning hope. ;) )
sindatur wrote:Yea, you can put the "Idea Stolen from" in the title of the new thread even, if you don't feel mentioning it in the opening post is sufficient.
Effaeldm wrote:...
May I add a side topic for competition or set it elsewhere, if I'm going to pay for it myself? To make it short and clear, I want some more wallpapers on the Chronicles - mostly interiors, possibly landscapes.

Also, should it be here or I'd better place such a thing elsewhere, with credit, certainly? Not to make a mess of this thread, and to make the wallpapers easier to find later? And maybe I'll make it longer than a week then, for more beautiful wallpapers :)
dANdeLION wrote:Wayfriend may not post here nowadays, but that doesn't mean he doesn't visit. I'm sure he'd start new competitions if he wanted to. I'm with Aliantha on this; if you want to start your own thing, by all means start it. But this is Wayfriend's game, and it should stay that way. Frankly, if I were the mod here I'd have already split these latest posts from this thread.
For now the topic is Chronicles-themed interiors wallpapers - Revelstone, Foul's Creche, Gravin Threndor catacombs. Non-interior accepted also, but not preferable. More details later.

Here's some small words:

null.

Will.

Never.

Submit.

An.

Entry.

That's as simple as it gets. I don't know why it's that way, but I've learned to trust it as fact. I'm not trying to criticize; I only want to save the people backing this thread the time wasted explaining rules to null when he'll never submit an entry.

Thank your concern , but this how-to will take next to no time:

Sit and draw

Though you may draw standing, if you so prefer.

dAN, do you run the 1st/2nd Chronicles Gallery, or is that Danlo?

I suggested in Wayfriend's actual thread, for this contest Eff should reach out to that Forum, how best should he approach that? Is it appropriate to make a thread there?

I thought the The First and Second Chronicles Gallery is for artwork, and this is a contest.

danlo must run it, I have nothing to do with it. As for this contest, do what you want with it. I just didn't want to see you running around trying to encourage null to compete; he won't.

Eff's thread, rules are up to him.

As to Null, yea, we love him, but, yea last minute contest entries never materialize. I'd be interested in being proven wrong, to see what his submission might actually be.

I suggested the Gallery, because The Gallery would be a good place to get great Wallpaper artists if they were interested in competing, if folks wanna keep it simple, that's cool too.

I'd like to see that Sarge. I have no more faith you'll come through, but, I've always been interested in your contribution.

You can put me in the same boat as Null. I usually have the intention, but no carry through. Though I might surprise one of these days.

And hey...as long as someone wants to get this contest thingy running again, I'm happy.

Well, this is a somewhat different contest and I'll be glad to see that one working as well, this one is more about visual art.

About submitting or not - better try, there's always a chance I'd like it, and the quality is always a subjective thing.

I'm also going to try to submit something, but that's not counted into the competing for WGDs - I'd like to take part, but don't feel like giving a prize to myself. And I know about the quality of the one below, sigh. And right, you can certainly use whatever software you like, no limitations on that - any graphic, architecture or landscape editors you like.
For a moment, Covenant continued to glance around him; he took a mental inventory of the furnishings so that he would know where all the dangerous corners, projections, edges were. The room contained a bed, a bath, a table arrayed with food, chairs-one of which was draped with a variety of apparel-and an arras on one wall. But none of these
presented any urgent threat, and shortly his gaze returned to the door.
Though sometime before or after TC stayed in that one.
