For Av. I am not going to subdivide Christian, so if you want to make that or any other distinction clear, use the thread.
If you're not sure, try asking the
Belief-o-matic.
The poll will run for 30 days.

I'll let you guys settle this: What's it called where you don't deny the existence of a god, but don't affirm it neither while at the same time not denying that anyone could know if there is or isn't a god namely because such knowledge would be pointless and nothing could be done with it?
That's what I am

I guess I've said this once or twice, but, since it's a new poll.

More agnostic than anything else on the list. But not having found what I consider a definite answer one way or the other to questions like
Is there a God?,
Is there an afterlife?, and
Is there a soul?, isn't really how I self-identify. It's not how I live my life. For all practical purposes, I live as an atheist. Nothing I do is done, no decision I make is made, because of anything supernatural. So I call myself a practical atheist. But I don't say, "There is nothing supernatural.", which I would call atheism. A positive statement, even if the positive is about the lack of something. I don't know one way or the other, so I'm an agnostic.

Former atheist, now Christian (Episcopalian). I also dip toes in Stoic and Taoist waters.
Atheism is great for some (and was quite comfy in my early 20s), but as time wore on I found it emblematic of a self and prefernce oriented life. I later hankered for something more: bearing the Cross; corporate worship and community. I only wish I could tell Furls...but I feel she knows.
Anyway.
Enjoying the switch!

There's a whole other mess underlying this, the last two posts remind me, something that came up in studies around the recent census polls: whether the answers given to the question "what religion are you?" are answered according to belief, or culture (/lifestyle).

other. the existance of what we refer to as "gods" seems quite likely to me but i've no evidence that it behooves me to "worship" any. i don't know what that's called. if i were inclined to practice any kind of philosophy religiously, it would probably be buddhist.

Orlion, I see what you're saying, what with agnosticism generally asserting that the truth is unknowable, but I think you're still more or less an agnostic (just as a Christian who doesn't believe in the Trinity or even the divinity of Christ would still be considered a Christian).
Luci, that sounds like Deism or at least some kind of version of it.
I suppose I should've put this up top (I'll fix that), but if you don't know, you could always see what the
Belief-o-matic has to say about it.

That's a happy laugh. I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I like the way you worded it.

I put "other," for some specific reasons...I don't believe in "Gods" of any stripe...but I know, absolutely, of certain mystic/supernatural things [though not beings]...it is possible that science will eventually cover them...also, possible not.
And, couple things Orlion/Syl comments...I think, along with Fist, there's some common territory...I'm not sure, Syl, that agnostic or a variation quite fits Orlion...but not sure...because:
If the belief is truth is unknowable...yes, that is a kind of agnosticism...but is that what the belief is in Orlions specific case? Or is it more like mine, which, without going on too long boils down to: Some mystical/supernatural truths may be knowable for a person...but they are not shareable/communicable. You can talk/philosophize/analogize/metaphorize, but not demonstrate/prove.
