As a kid, and even now as an adult, I had/have a difficult time passing up a small bowl of:

But my favorite cereal wasn't commercially made. It was my mommy's pastina, which I have tweaked in to what I call breakfast mac and cheese.

So sarge, since you posted this is currently your favorite cereal here, I guess we can safely say your taste hasn't changed since then?

Count Chocula, Frankenberry, and Booberry are available right now, Z. But I do only see them seasonally in the stores from the beginning of September until a week or two after Halloween. After that, you might find it in places such as Big Lots for a month or so.

It used to be "Super Sugar Corn Pops" if I remember correctly.
I think all those cereals were "super sugar" something.

Captain Crunch and Froot Loops were my favs.
I still like the Crunch.
Fruit loops are godawful now.

I just remember them as Sugar Pops, actually. I think the "Sugar Corn Pops" was a transition phase....

I liked lots of different cereals as a kid, actually -- Sugar Pops, Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms, Sugar Smacks, Quisp, Cocoa Krispies, Fruit Loops, Alphabits. You will note the theme here. I didn't "favorite" Corn Pops 'til years later.

I liked Cap'n Crunch, but it always seemed to me to have a sort of sticky aftertaste. Dunno if that's still true, as I haven't had a bowl in years....

The sugar cereal eating days came to an end at my house when a box (I forget of what) fell off the table and spilled all over the floor. Our two dogs, who would eat about anything, wouldn't eat it. My dad said if the dogs wouldn't eat it neither would we.

I can't resist such a good excuse to repost this...

edit: I have been privately chastised for this not being a real childhood cereal. Note that I was just following lorin's excellent example in this matter. THOOOTP!

I'm shocked that nobody else has posted this cereal choice! Far and away the first of my covetous childhood cereal desires:

Favorite cereal that I could realistically hope to eat at home:

Linna!

luci, I forgot about Rice Krispies with nanners, mmmm. I didn't start eating Grape Nuts 'til I was much older, and then I'd always eat 'em hot, with milk, honey and a dab of butter. MMMmmmm.
