It is beautiful!

But with my fear of falling (not of heights, as long as I have a railing or something stable to hold on to I'm fine), I would never make it. Go and bring back plenty of photos for me to drool over. :)

Oooooh....

How much time have you got? I've been wanting for years to do a hiking tour of the Vienna-to-Prague Greenway. I cannot find a link to the tour I've had my eye on (maybe the operator has gone out of business by now...). I'll have to check when I get back to work. Anyway, with enough time (and money!), we could do both.

I'm such a dreamer, huh?

But wouldn't this be a great incentive for both of us to get in better shape? (rhetorical question!)

EDIT: Aha! Here they are! www.etours.cz/

Oooh, Switzerland. There are many, many places on my list, and Switzerland is among them. A friend of mine travels for her job frequently and is always excited to go there (well, not that town, specifically).

Iceland is definitely on my list. Like, in the next 5 years list.

I would LOVE to go there!

But while a cross country trip would be manageable for me, I don't think I can swing a European vacation next year.

That just means you'll have to take lots of pictures and post them all here :D

Do you know I lived in Zurich for 5 years as a child. I have very few memories of that time, which is a shame. I remember skiing in Zermat, I remember going to the top of the Jungfrau and I think the Matterhorn.

I would like to visit with an adult eye. I haven't done any real hiking in many years. When I was in camp in Switzerland we went hiking. All I remember is the lunch was a chocolate sandwich. figures I would remember THAT. I am going to take up skiing again. I was terrible but I had a blast. I plan to be terrible again. But this trip is not going to be during the winter. I am not sure which is the best time. It will either be late summer or the following spring (2013). I need to get my knees in better shape. I am a good walker but downhill is an issue.

/gasp

I want to go!

It's completely unrealistic for me right now, but I've been fantasizing about running away.

right now it's unrealistic for me too - but in a year it may be possible. Let's make a plan.

As far as running away, I am a big proponent of geographic cures. They solve nothing but they are so so fun. I have done it about three big times.

Mmm, I stayed in Lucerne for a while, been up the Jungfraujoch and Pilatus. Beautiful country.

I bet your chocolate sandwich was made with Nutella, lorin. ;)

Yeah, it's completely unrealistic for me, too, at least until Mom's house sells (which would require putting it on the market, which...oh, never mind ). And you are absolutely right that winter would not be the time to go, unless you're planning a hut-to-hut cross-country ski trip...

Nope, chocolate bar sandwiched in a roll.
