Star Wars: The Old Republic
Hey there,
was just wondering if anyone here was planning on playing this game? I saw quite a large population of WoW players so many might be reluctant to make the switch, or at least reticent to admit it.

we have a couple guys in the guild, including the guild daddy, who have been playing the TOR beta. guild daddy dray said he didn't care for the game play. liked the storyline, but said the gameplay was meh.
i think there are guildies who will be playing both for a bit but i don't expect it to have too awful much of an impact on our guild.
it's very possible that diablo 3 will have a bigger impact!

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

That was my exact impression. I was only in the beta for a weekend, but I'm going to get the game to see what happens, if nothing else. Was kinda expecting more after ~5 years of hype but it was a pretty ambitious project to begin withlucimay wrote:we have a couple guys in the guild, including the guild daddy, who have been playing the TOR beta. guild daddy dray said he didn't care for the game play. liked the storyline, but said the gameplay was meh.
It's nice to see a "GT purist" branching out to the rest of the Watch...
You say purist, I say fanatic...either way you're right. Laughing

I've been playing now for a week. Kaehln got me into it. There are some new game bugs, but all in all it's enjoyable. I've started a couple of Republic and a couple of Empire characters. The story lines are pretty good, but I think with a slight advantage to the Empire side.
I like the games role for companions. They are helpers; I can send them out to do material gathering work or crafting while I'm doing other things. You have to keep them happy, and decisions you make in the game effect their opinion. My Sith Inquistor's companion hates force users and gives a negative reaction to respectful answers to them. (It only tolerates my character because it beat him in combat) The better they like you, the better they are at completing tasks. Also, many companion are compliments to class gameplahy. My Imperial sniper, kind of like a fire mage in WoW, has a companion who is close to a tank.
Anyway, it's a pretty good game.
