Last Dark Update from News

From the News section of SRD website:
THE LAST DARK (what I call Covenant 10: Book Four of "The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant") now exists. In other words, I've finished the first draft. It is 1176 pages in manuscript. At this stage, AGAINST ALL THINGS ENDING was 1181, so the difference is trivial.
As usual, we are still a long way from publication. I have at least a year of rewriting to do before I can hope to approximate a final version; and my publishers can't get started doing their part until then. But (alas) I may need more time than that. THE LAST DARK has been an extremely difficult book to write (at times it felt actively impossible), and I wrote it under extremely difficult circumstances. As a result, this first draft contains more authorial errors and miscalculations than my first drafts usually do. As a result, the challenges of rewriting will be especially complex. Look for further progress reports at my usual intervals.

Obviously not...

Sorry for the duplication...

No worries, Zen. If you do not look there, it follows directly that there may be others who do not, and who will benefit from your post in this forum.
By the same token, this is why some people choose to cross-post certain bits of information in several relevant fora. This may raise the ire of those who consider all cross-posting to be a sin, but when not abused, I have no problem with it.
It's a big board and a huge internet; who has time to read it all?
(OK, other than her...)

Some people though, are even while, when they haven't been drinking and feeling snootically ironic,[or even more so when they have] might point out that this fora junk is part of the reason people think that "Phonics" methods are anything except a huge pile of horse dung implanted with those dorks who blew the horns for cheerleaders because they were too incompetent to even wave flags [BREATH OUT WHEN THEY POINT AT YOU!] and be cheerleaders, let alone players on the team.
Look: English is NOT a Latin based language. And even if it was, all those people are DEAD. And even if they weren't, why would anyone follow the grammatical rules of peeps that most other peeps only recognize by saying one of 2 things: "Dude, your from the place that looks like a cute little boot," OR "why do you let that dork with the giant hat tell people what to do in the name of Jesus and Mary, especially when his symbol [upside down cross] is the worldwide [stupid freak conspiracy nuns/monks and innocent goth ironists] symbol of the *vil.
Fora may have been an appropriate [or necessary] plural in 2nd century Rome...in the modern US, you say fora, no one will know what you're talking about [they'll wonder how 1a 2a and 3a passed them by, or if not musicians...musicians who pay attention to crappy old movie music trope musicians] ...wonder when some italian dude is gonna say 1a again and hope someone tells them what the tune...or at least the chord changes...are before MR. Fora starts singing.

OK, Vraith, I can tell I touched a major nerve there. Not sure why you feel quite that strongly it, but clearly you do. In the words of the hiker who stumbled upon the heavily-defended hemp patch in the Mendocino hills "I didn't mean to do this, and I'm leaving right now!"
Quite apart from the one arcane plural that you felt was insufferably pretentious (really, I'm sorry!), the point of my post was to reassure Zen that sharing SRD's news about The Last Dark was a good thing, even if Seareach had done so elsewhere. Let's not let some antics about semantics obscure that intent.

Who, me? I'm normally the consummate lurker. *laugh*
In fact, I usually don't even check the SRD forum except that I was avoiding work.

I'd like to see you make me behave myself, Sea.

Well, fora what it's worth, my intention with the thread was not to get into a discussion on the merits or lack there of of a particular word. Although as an SRD forum that is certainly appropriate

Thanks for the kind words Savor, I'll be sure and check the "Announcements" area more often (who knew there'd be like actual announcements in it), and thanks MsMary for catching my mistake.

It's all good, Zen.
Like SavorDam said, some people probably wouldn't have seen the announcement in the other forum.
Oh, and happy to give you a good laugh, Av.

FWIW: I didn't feel strongly about using "fora," I felt tipsy and giggly about it [so the comment about antics about semantics was entirely apropos, not malapropopososos-ish, and I bow to the device].
And I'm just fulfilling Zen's purpose anyway...as long as I keep typing stuff here, the thread will pop up on everyones "posts since last visit" screens.

That's true, we could keep this totally redundant and pointless thread alive a long time, without much effort at all...

Yes indeed! We specialize in pointless redundancy. Also in redundant pointlessness. We are quite versatile in that regard.
