Tetris, Life, Balance

Serenity evolves out of peace and balance. In life, if one lets chaos rule one's self, one can never hope to find happiness. One must confront problems head on and find resolutions to issues which trouble one's soul. But sometimes in life, problems can lurk just beneath the surface of consciousness. These problems fester and grow, and over time they burrow deep into one's soul.

Problems such as these are very tricky to deal with, because as they evolve over time, the source of the trouble, the site of the original injury, becomes hidden. Then these unconfronted issues arouse more negative thoughts and emotions, and continue to erode the soul. Fleeting moments of happiness can be found, but never savored, as they are as wispy as a cloud of mist on a windy day. Always the soul craves to find peace, the soul aches for the soothing balm of balance which leads to serenity.

When I play Tetris, sometimes the game will send me a slew of pieces which do not fit well into my puzzle. They cause chaos and disorder, and my puzzle becomes unbalanced and flawed with holes. Once I become unbalanced within my puzzle, it is easy to tip over and lose the game. These are the critical moments of the game, when one must think outside the box and find creative solutions to unsavory pieces. When the game throws curve balls, the player must respond in like with his own surprises. If you can think your way past the immediate dilemma and find a path to a balanced matrix, then, for a time, the pieces seem to fit together again in perfect harmony.

In life, much like the game of Tetris, a person can sometimes find himself bombarded with seemingly unsolvable problems. Or rather, too many complicated problems coming at you too fast, and it becomes very challenging to deal with them all at once and find a solution to the chaos. And also much like Tetris, these are the critical times in one's life, when a person must persevere and find his way through the chaos, where he may hope to find peace and serenity.
