I had a great night of sleep. I "took something" to help as I needed it so bad. Hope you got some rest, Rigel.

Sorry, Rigel. Too late for drugs, if you have to get up in the morning. Try meditation or prayer- usually works for me. Just slow, deep breathing, paying attention only to the sound and sensations associated with breath...

It wasn't so much last night that I couldn't get to sleep, as it was that I woke up too early this morning. Nodded off around 12:30am, but woke up at 6:30am. Forced myself to go back to sleep until 7:30am.
I'm making an effort to get to bed on time. I think part of the stress on my system that caused the shingles flare-up was not getting enough sleep. But it's hard to do when Magickmaker gets home from work at midnight and wants to talk for awhile.

I slept, but not well, and woke up with a #%*+£€ headache.
Plus, my bad knee has started painfully "locking" while I'm asleep for some unknown reason, and I wake up when I turn in my sleep and try to bend it to shift position (it tries to "unlock" and the pain makes me wake up).
I need to get more diligent about doing my PT exercises again. In the hope that strengthening the surrounding muscles will help. :-\

8:20am. Never did get to sleep, so I just came to work early; been here since a quarter to seven, and we don't open til nine.
FML. Today's going to suck. OTOH, I've already had almost an entire pot of coffee to myself. I should be really jumpy around 10am

Think of the great night's sleep you'll get tonight, tho...

Hopefully.
Regarding the coffee, my husband always says that if the first cup doesn't wake me up, the subsequent cups just make me hyper.
Hope you sleep better tonight! (And hope I do.)
When I worked the night shift and had to sleep during the day, I trained myself to relax and stay in bed with my eyes closed, even if I was finding it hard to fall asleep. Definitely more restful than worrying about not being able to fall asleep or jumping out of bed repeatedly.

Yup. And if you're *really* stressed about falling asleep, you might as well just get up and stay up for awhile, 'til you relax and start to feel sleepy.

...assuming that works.
Which it doesn't seem to have, in Rigel's case.

One of the things Ive learned (for me) when cant sleep is to not bother looking at the clock. I don't care what time it is. The more I look at the clock the more I get sleep anxiety thinking... Oh crap its 1AM... just 5 more hours to get sleep... oh crap its 2AM just 4 more.... and so on and so on.
I have the clock time covered up to keep from inadvertently looking at it. Ive also made sure to cover any and all LED's in the room so there is no light to catch my eyes.
And then last but certainly not least. I keep a VERY regular sleep schedule. I find if I alter my sleep schedule for even the briefest period, it can make it difficult for me to get back on my schedule again.
If all else fails, and I find that I have only done this a couple of times a year, I take a couple of Advil PM's.

Going on 39 hours now, and getting ready to relax. Today at work I kept going between overcaffeinatedly manic, and exhaustion. But I made it through, and now I'm feeling alert but sleepy.
Just had a (single) drink with a friend, and I'm gonna lay back and relax watching tv.

Well, if it's any consolation, your 01h30 is 09h30 here.

Sun's always up somewhere in the world.

2:16 am - at least will finish off mallory's games that mrs.null was kind enough to re-up.
at one point i saw a doctor about the sleep issue - he pinpointed it to the fact i hated giving up control by falling asleep.

laugh it up...
i also like the fact that late at night very few others are up. when i was single i would go walking downtown in Concord, NH. something refreshing on a cool night and by yourself.
