Hello from me

Hi
Lying in bed this morning on my day off, nearing the close of the third trilogy of Thomas Covenant ( Against All Things Ending.) and thinking that maybe I should get hold of the final book. So, lappy fired up and what do I find? I find it's not out until late 2013!! Apart from the fact I cannot wait that long and along with the rumours that the World might end or we all might get beamed up to a higher consciousness and not need to read books anymore ...well! How annoying in the extreme!
51 year old lady. Not read much in the last five years UNTIL! my partner suggested T Covenant. Not read much fantasy or Sci Fi at all really. So, late last Summer I started reading the Unbeliever and I've not stopped since. I think my partner might actually regret introducing me to the whole thing as I've had my head and mind stuck in a book for months now. I love the style of writing, the characters, the psycholgy of it.
What a sense of doom though? Maybe I can make this last few chapters last till late 2013, though I doubt it. This is the true meaning of DESPAIR!
I'll get over it, books are like lost loves mostly I think. You think your never going to get a book as good and then you find something that slightly different but good and as you read into it, you move on. OR! a really good meal that you think is the nicest thing you've ever eaten...That is until the next really excellent feast...
Anyway, sorry to ramble. I am a great fan of Donaldson's work and happy to meet you all.

Hello Teddy. Glad to meet another not so young lady from my part of the woods.
Just started the One Tree, my umpteenth read-through!

Hi Iolanthe
Glad to meet you too. Nice to get a hello so quickly.
I am getting on a bit, I really don't now how it happened though?
Hope you're enjoying the One Tree. I may well start reading the whole lot from the start again while I'm waiting for the 'Last Dark'. I've never read a book twice before but feel a strong temptation.
Have a great day! Looks nice outside, sunny.

Hi Teddy. Nice rambling.

I don't think the TC books can be read just once. There is so much to take in. I've been re-reading them since the 80s.
Getting cloudy here now, sunny this morning, but still cold

Welcome, Teddy! (from another post-50 Watcher -- I dunno how it happened, either)
There's a ton of stuff here besides talk about the Chrons. Poke around.

Welcome, Teddy!
Nice to have you around. There's a bunch of us "older" Watchers here. (Don't ask, I just had a birthday!;))
And yeah, what ali said - lots to discuss around here!
Careful with talking too much about the Last Chronicles here. Lots of people trying to avoid spoilers.

You might request to get into the special forum we have for that. Lots of good discussion and conjecture to keep you going till the last book comes out.

Be Welcome to the Watch from yet another 50+ female Watcher, Teddy.
Be Well Come and True.
What everyone else has said. There are lots of topics here, both SRD and non-SRD oriented. Don't be a stranger and dive right in.

Welcome, Teddy. If you love the Chronicles, you should have no fears about this place - I think we can "bear" another big fan.

Hello Teddy. My first relationship broke up because I wouldn't take my head out of The First Chronicles! We'd gone away for the weekend and I got a 'It's me or the books' ultimatum. Obviously I chose wisely
Irreconcilable differences aside, welcome to the Watch.

That's hilarious!
Even if you just made it up for the occasion.
But really, my husband was furious with me when I spent a whole vacation reading the Ender's Game series. All four books of the original series! Different author, similar problem.

All fact, no fiction. Though I do suspect, for a number of reasons, we were doomed anyway!

SRD merely brought forward our last dark.
Re: your Ender's Game marital discord. I always think if you marry a drinker you know what you're in for. Ditto with marrying a reader! Of course, some silly people will advise balance and compromise and all sorts of rubbish, but really, don't they know they come second!?
Seriously though, from that relationship on, my partners have shared my book love so it hasn't been
as much of a problem.

It's not that my husband doesn't share my book love. It's just that he wanted me to pay attention to
him on our vacation. Imagine that!
We have a good relationship overall, married for 26 years, more or less.

Yes, how very rude!

Glad to hear it. May you share another 26, and then some.
And far be it from me to venture off topic AGAIN, so um... hello Teddy! Come back and say hi so we know Av didn't scare you away

Thanks. Shaun.
And, now, back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Wow! Thanks for all the welcomes, very warming..
I think I might well finish that last chapter tonight and then I might re-read 'Fatal Revenant' as I found it hard to get into in places or maybe it was my concentration at that time. Must ask in an appropriate room in this forum sometime if anyone else has found the same.. Not had much of a chance to poke around yet but know that I will.
I've heard of many things breaking up relationships but never reading before. MsMary, thanks for the laugh. I think he was asking too much...
Must admit, my partner's eyes tend to glaze over sometimes when I update him on what's happening in the Land. He read the first two back in the eighties. He kinda gets his own back I reckon by playing the same song over and over on his guitar until perfect.(currently Layla.) We all need our little escapes that are exclusively ours I think.
I will be very wary of spoiling though..promise.
I can't quite believe the amount I have read in the past few months..I just love these books..
