I must add, I really enjoyed the character of Andy, the messenger robot. I found his relationship with the kids of the Calla hypnotic. He sings, he teaches these kids, and yet he has "many other functions".

Its characters like Andy (a robot - the irony!) that keep me reading DT. I think that applies generally too - the DT novels give King the room to explore character as well as plot, and other emotions than just horror and fear and tension.

Interetsing how different people like different things. :D I was a bit ambivalent toward him myself I think. there was something too obviously off about him for me.

Avatar, I can see parallels to Andy in our society today (mostly in capitalist, consumerist culture - TVs, advertising, billboards etc) - I thought it was a cool idea to make the "propaganda machine" a real machine, a robot who looked like C3PO.

Oh, and I also enjoyed the pop-Culture references through DT5, from HP to light sabres.

Hmm, interesting take on him. As for the pop-culture, I enjoyed the references because getting a reference always feels good. Not sure if I approved of them otherwise...but then, I'm picky. :D
