Robin Gibb died in a London hospital after a battle with colon and liver cancer today. He was 62. Robin's series of health crises began in August 2010 when he underwent emergency surgery to treat a blocked intestine. The same hereditary condition led to Robin's twin brother Maurice Gibb's death in January 2003 at age 53. He contracted pneumonia and slipped into a coma.

The only Gibb brother I ever met, however briefly.
I know I have the photograph of him I took outside of Criterion studios somewhere...

Always loved the Beegees, and particularly Robin's voice. One of the first singles I ever bought was First of May (1969).

Yes, I know Barry sings this, but there is also a compilation of I Started a Joke (Robin) and First of May on UTube.

Damn, the Vespers is getting pretty grim lately. Isn't this like the 6th RIP thread on the first page? This forum is becoming an obituary.

Not that I'm criticizing people for honoring the dead, it's just a lot of tragic loss in a relatively short timespan.

I love the Bee Gees and even have a pandora station dedicated to them that I listen to quite often.

So sad that three of the brothers have been lost at such young ages. Doesn't seem fair.

I always loved the harmonies of the Bee Gees... so some of those sweet harmonies.

Nights On Broadway

"How Deep is your Love" has always been one of my favorite songs of all time. I know it's sappy but I can't help it. It's so beautiful harmonically, lyrically and melodically. Brilliant stuff.

A shame. I have a Bee Gees Pandora station as well. Like Sarge I like Nights on Broadway but also Fanny.

Yeah the musical world is taking some losses recently. I think it started with Whitney, and we are losing another musician nearly every week. Is Death trying to build up the band wherever they go?

I guess they needed a person to introduce them by taking Dick Clark as well.
