Sorry to hear. Altho I admit that I've never read any of his work. What I remember most about him is Lily Tomlin's phone operator character persistently calling him "Mr. VEE-dul" on Laugh-In. (Dear gods, I'm old. )

I have performed in his play, "The Best Man" ... an interesting tale, though dated at this point.

Certainly a literary icon.

i am sorry to hear of this. just had the pleasure of seeing his commentary in the US vs John Lennon documentary.

have never actually finished anything he wrote, i did start his Aaron Burr back in hs, don't remember why i set it down.
