Did anyone notice how freely the rebel alliance gave out general's stars? Han shows up, kills a few guys and boom he's a general. No training. No dues to pay. I think I'd like to be a general in the rebel army. What do I have to do?
:-)

Kill a few guys, starting off with yourself.

Think of how easy it is to rise in the Empire. All you have to do is work for the dude that is about to fail Vader.

I hope this thread isn't going to join the dozens of others that jump off topic from the second post and end up with 5 pages of....

Well, you can't really expect me to take this seriously, can you?

To expect rational thought from someone who is prancing around like a teenage girl in a nightie is far from realistic. Seriousness is unlikely.

Besides, Han shows up with a princess he rescued, plans for the Deathstar (that he later helps destroy), and the only surviving Jedi candidate. What more do you think should be required?

At least a few of the things run of the mill generals have to do. Years of service. Working your way up the ranks. Proving leadership over time. None of these things were required of Han. I grant you the points you've made. They are all true but they wouldn't get you anything but Admiral in the real world.

Bologna. Just how "official" do you expect a rebel alliance to be? The fact that he had a ship probably would have garnered his promotion all by itself. Besides, we all know that Leia pulled the strings in order to keep Han around.

Speaking of generals, did you see "Gods and Generals"? I heard it was an expensive bust.

Who else was a general? I don't recall that title being used anywhere else. Perhaps it's just an honorary title. Or maybe generals in the RA were equal to privates here on earth.
