OMG!! Funniest movie since the hangover! Well worth the $$. I can't remember the last time I had more belly laughs. In fact, many people in the audience were having multiple belly laughs. And everyone was at least tittering.

Bonus: I saw an old lady get up and leave and make a troop (5 or 6) of kids leave during the sex scene. LOL!!

You're one of the 64% of audience members who liked it, according to Rotten Tomatoes. I usually trust the audience more than the critics (only 24%), but I worry about spending money on anything that isn't at least 70%. I've been burned too many times. Of course, humor is quite personal. I thought Kung Pow was hilarious, but I know people who hate it. Still, it got 63% audience rating, so it's right in that range. Pick of Destiny (another favorite of mine) was 69%. Looks like a rental, for me. I'll check it out eventually.

Maybe the 36% who didn't like this movie are easily offended.

My experience was hearing more people laugh harder than most other comedies. I was one of them.

I never pay attention to sites like rottentomatoes.com

Indeed it was even though my preference is Kung Fu Hustle. Still...Kung Pow is a little better than Shaolin Soccer. *shrug*

I haven't even heard of Identity Theft so now I have to look it up.

I cracked up at Kung Pow, and only slightly less at Hustle...but I.D. Thief only a couple good laughs, and that's stuff that I've found funny ever since I heard it the first time, in the late bronze age.

I find aggregate opinions to be worthwhile sometimes. Ratebeer.com is another one I trust. But I don't trust them blindly ... only after I've found a correlation between my own tastes and the majority. I found some restaurant opinion sites, for instance, to be pretty much worthless. After paying money for movies that we couldn't/wouldn't finish, and then looking them up on Rotten Tomatoes and learning that they were 50% or lower, we always make sure and check before spending money now. It's easy to go back and check previous releases that you already know you like/hate to see if the site is useful for you. If the numbers don't match your opinion, you know you're an oddball ... just kidding! You know the majority of people are idiots, I mean. :P

Good to hear the similar opinions about Kung Pow! I thought my family was alone in that regard. Well ... until I checked Rotten Tomatoes.

I enjoyed the Identity Thief. But, I am a sucker for comedies, so that may explain it. All I can say is that I attended the movie to try to escape from some very painful problems.....and it gave me an hour and a half of relief. :)

Spoiler
You've seen voyeur/cuckold scenes (with people so large you expect a chicken wing to come flying out of the jiggling flab) on the big screen before?!

Nor should you. Or you should at least be careful.

The *best* movies are only truly great to a specific segment of the population; they will also be called the *worst* movies by another segment. The average, then, will be somewhere in the middle.

What you want to look for, more than the final score, is the breakdown of scores. If all the scores are 1-2 and 8-9, you know you've got a winner on your hands. If all the scores are 5-7, you know it's dull.

That being said, I really enjoyed ID Thief. Not as good as last year's Ted, but still enjoyable. I'd rate it 8 :)
