Well, when he said he liked two of the Chronicles and hated one of them, I didn't think he meant the Second Chronicles were bad.

But he gave me an idea for a topic, if I have the time to do it justice.

As far as "understanding the scope" goes ... I have never encountered a reviewer who recognized that the Chronicleses are about, above all else, being effective in one's own life. So no surprise.

I was posting quickly so scope was not the correct word.

Probably the better word is the elevated stakes of The Last Chronicles.
