Opera singing beauty Kathine Jenkins caused somewhat of a bemused reaction when she stated catagorically on twitter that she wanted to make it clear for the first and last time that she had not had an affair with David Beckham!

What caused the puzzled response from the press and tv commentators was that nobody anywhere, as far as they could tell, had suggested that she had! The odd little posting did however unleash a (clearly) pent up need for people to unburded themselves of denials of individuals who they hadn't had an affair with as well. In the spirit of the pulchritudinous Jenkins I would like to state catagorically and for the record that I have not had an affair with Avatar, Hashi Lebwohl, Sgt Null, or any other members of The Watch singly, in pairs or in any other mathematical ccombination that the human anatomy would render within the bounds of contortional possibility. In fact I believe that I am the only member of the Watch who actually exists - the rest of the site being no more than a Turing test designed with the specific intent of making me believe I am daily in communication with a group of disparate, and for the most part semi-mad, individuals.

Great, he figured it out. Now what do we do?

Seriously, though, I think this is about stating for the record with whom people would like to have an affair but never will. That is a slippery slope near which they might not want to walk. It is also about being an attention whore--"look at me! look at who I haven't been with!" *roll eyes*

Hashi's last point is spot-on...and the Watch might have an attention-sponge or twenty in residence.

As for the topic itself...no comment.

I have never had an affair with Bossk. Though many have thought we were a couple at some point.

I always thought there might be some relationship between you and the Comte Saint-Germain Cag. Oh to be a fly on the wall in *that* meeting!

I notice that no-ne has yet to declare not having had an affair with Lindsay Lohan. Oh well - to be expected I suppose.

Cassanova and I had a few drinks together to discuss possible "relations", but after the Affair of the Necklace, I decided it was one affair too many.

I had a very close relationship with two others on the board. dennisrwood and sgtkafka.

there is someone...I can't remember who it is now...with whom I am explicitly and completely NOT, have not been, and will not be, involved in anything affair-like with. I know this cuz whoever it was went to great pains to smack me down after misreading some post or other as flirtatious...though it was not such. Going so far as to say, roughly, "It may not be flirty, but I needs must nip this in the bud even if it isn't just in case someone thinks it appears to be, even if that someone is only myself and I know it isn't REALLY."
